Uptown Elegance: AC by Marriott Charlotte

At AC by Marriott Charlotte, balconies are available in select rooms, with guests particularly recommending those “facing the nearby Spectrum Center” for the best views. One satisfied guest specifically mentioned “Lovevtye balcony and outside view,” confirming that these outdoor spaces deliver a positive visual experience.

However, there’s a notable caveat: some reviews mention noise from a “nightclub on the balcony,” which could be a dealbreaker if you’re a light sleeper or seeking tranquility. This is definitely something to consider when weighing your options.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, it’s well maintained. The workers were friendly, there is free easy parking & the location is great! It’s a walkable distance to the mall & other shops & restaurants. Definitely recommend staying here!!

The hotel interior is modern, sleek, and beautiful, with great lighting. The front desk & staff managing the restaurant/breakfast were a delight throughout each interaction. The gym as a cable machine & nice cardio equipment which is always a bonus. We will definitely stay here again.

A very nice e hotel and sweet staff along with cool rooms, although sizing was a factor and made some of the cooler features of the bathroom and shower less than desirable. The overall stay was cool, but the main issue that made the biggest impression overall was the over the top food prices, which, when compared to the food, was terrible. I hate to be less than positive but as much as people spend to stay at these establishments it's just unfair and greedy to charge these prices when the products your offering don't match up to the price points.

Very well maintained beautiful quiet hotel. Great location close to many options for restaurants and shopping. Staff is friendly and the room was exceptionally clean. Housekeeping is top notch! Only downside was the bed was not very comfortable and did not like the feather pillows- but that is a personal preference.
Parking was easy.Concierge staff was great.Breakfast was really good. Bacon was crispy and perfect, the croissants were amazing. They charge for coffee (not sure if there was a complimentary station somewhere and I missed it, not sure.)Great area. Safe.I didn’t check out the rooftop bar. I wish I had.Room service didn’t come at all so I thought that was different.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights visiting our son and his family. What a beautiful and welcoming hotel! It seems to be new and from the friendly welcome at the front desk to workers in the restaurant, the housecleaners, and others in the elevator, everyone was so friendly and polite. Our room was spotless and quiet, the mattress was firm, and we had an in-room refrigerator and safe. The rooftop was quite nice, although it would have been even better if open during the day, with a nice view of the city skyline. Breakfast was fantastic with cooked-to-order eggs and a nice buffet of fresh fruit, scones, bacon, yogurt, croissants, oatmeal, and so much more. We'll be back!

On March 23rd, my family and I stayed one night at The Ivey’s Hotel. Upon arrival we were very happy with the service and how beautiful the hotel was. Everything was very clean and we were happy to be there. During the night I was woken by a loud, clanging pipe noise and then the running of our toilet. It happened over and over throughout the night, which evidently left me with little sleep. In the morning I went into the restroom to check out the situation and I could see a brown line in the toilet from the running water, so I knew this is not a new issue. This means that the hotel put us in that room when they were aware of the broken toilet. Then when my family checked out, they informed us that the valet was not there and we would have to take the employee elevator down to the garage. Once the employee put us in the elevator, we couldn’t get out. The elevator would move between floors but it would not open. I was stuck on the elevator with my husband and two young children. Eventually the doors opened back to the main floor. The employee then informed us that we needed her key card which is why we got stuck. Once again, a situation that could have been prevented. After a nine hour drive we reached home but realized my son left his stuffed animal dog at the hotel. I called and left a message telling them about the situation and asking for them to return my call. I understand that this is just a toy, but they never called me back. I left a review on Trip Advisory about this experience. The hotel replied to my review and stated that the situation had been taken care of and that I found the dog. This reply from the hotel is not true at all. I never found the dog. I called the hotel and spoke to Josh and asked him to have this reply removed since it wasn’t true. Josh said he would have it taken down or corrected, he would check on the dog and call me back. That was four days ago and I’m still waiting for the false information to be removed and for Josh to return my phone call.

Our room was above the lobby and we heard the doors opening and closing all night. The hotel itself is very cool and retro with an amazing convenient location downtown Charlotte. The parking however, is not free. It cost $45 a night top shelf liquors in the bar and you get a free wine or champagne upon arrival.

Not sure why this is a 4 star, should be a solid 5! The place will leave you speechless you are transported into France but with a cool eclectic twist due to its decor. The attention to detail in every corner of the hotel the rooms the lounges stops you in your tracks to take it all in !

I've stayed at the Ivey's many times and have always enjoyed my visits. I stayed 3 nights this week. The room was perfect as usual. The housekeeping staff and valet staff were wonderful. I ate breakfast at Sophie's every morning and the food was amazing and the staff was superb. The bartenders in the library and Sophie's were lovely. However, due to the unprofessional and rude front desk member, I will not return. I usually assume if someone is rude once, they may just be having a bad day, but if it is a repeated pattern over the course of multiple encounters - it's a problem. I even tried to extend my stay and was told by this member of your staff (twice) that I couldn't stay an additional night. Luckily, the front desk member who replaced her in the morning was far more accommodating and I was able to stay. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I will switch my business back to the Bohemian when I return to uptown.

A fantastic experience at The Ivey’s Hotel in Charlotte! The atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming, with Michelin-rated service from start to finish. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, offering the perfect retreat after a busy workday. One of the highlights was the bar—whatever was in that Empress Gin cocktail with lavender, it was crafted to perfection. It’s a must-try. Highly recommend!

Disappointing Service for a “5-Star” HotelWe’ve stayed at The Ivey Hotel three times over the last few months, spending thousands on their most premium rooms. While our first two stays in the balcony rooms were pleasant, our most recent experience in the executive suite was a major letdown. The lighting in the suite is incredibly poor, making the room feel dim and unwelcoming. The in-room technology is outdated—the TV is old, and the tablets are so slow they’re practically unusable. One of the few highlights of the hotel is the housekeeping staff—they are fantastic. Friendly, detail-oriented, and clearly take pride in their work. Unfortunately, the front desk and valet service are a completely different story. At check-in, the receptionist made no effort to be welcoming. Despite seeing that we had our hands full with luggage, she didn’t offer to help, didn’t provide a pen when asking us to sign documents, and barely acknowledged our presence. Meanwhile, two other employees were loudly arguing next to us—hardly the level of professionalism one expects from a luxury hotel. The valet service was just as disappointing. It was raining when we arrived, and instead of offering to help with bags or even open car doors, the valet staff stood under the awning, letting us and our luggage get drenched. Again, this is supposed to be a five-star hotel, yet the service we received was barely on par with a three-star experience. The Ivey has potential, but without significant improvements in service, it’s failing to meet the expectations of high-end travelers. We won’t be returning.

This hotel is super cute! Boutique style. French Parisian and classy! I think there’s only 40 rooms? But it’s attached to condos that run about $1.2M so we felt like we were staying somewhere extra fancy just knowing that lol 😝The bottom floor leads into a market that has several quick eats - mostly Korean which is awesome to see as I’m Korean and have a hard time finding restaurants from South Korea! We didn’t try it but grabbed a water before walking uptown and the cashier was one of the happiest people I’ve ever met!We ordered in room service (truffle fries and skillet cookie) and the gentleman who brought it was incredibly professional and on time. There was also a small bottle of champagne on ice after re returned from our walk!Later on in the evening there was a turndown service and offered us chocolates and asked if we needed any extra blankets, pillows, or towels. The next morning we had the sweetest hostess/sever ever! Ashley (I think was her name) was quick, knowledgeable, and interested in our reason for visiting/adventures! Couldn’t be happier with Sophie’s breakfast selection. I had the yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, and an eggs Benedict while my hubby had the Lottie bagel which he loved especially with the pickled onions with fresh fruit and hash browns which were different and 🤤 delicious!Wonderful! Amazing! 🤩 experience!! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an amazing boutique style night away from home 😍

Great location, very nice, elegant, and overall a very clean hotel. The bed was very hard and our room was street view and we found that the rooms did not insulate sound very well from people driving by with music or from people on the street talking very loud. The hotel decided to tip themselves 24% gratuity on food taken from the minibar, which I felt was inappropriate. Parking is also $45 a night, which is not unheard of for Charlotte, but check-in took a little longer than expected and the person at the front did not mention the fee (I am guessing it was somewhere in the paperwork I signed but was tired by the time it was my turn to check in and I missed it because I was in a hurry). Edit - I found a welcome email that stated parking was $45 a night in small print at the bottom of an email. While the hotel was overall nice, due to taxes and other fees, the price for one night stay ended up being 1/3 over what was listed on the website.

The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte

Similar to The Ivey’s, guest feedback for The Ballantyne recommends rooms “with a balcony facing the fountain” for optimal views. The hotel offers balconies across various accommodation types, including the “One-Bedroom Presidential Suite” with a “private balcony” and a “Four-Bedroom Cottage” that also features outdoor space.

This suggests a range of balcony experiences depending on your room category, with the more premium options likely offering more spacious and well-appointed outdoor areas.

The Ballantyne generally earns high marks from guests, often described as “absolutely stunning” with “impeccable service” and “outstanding food.” The “amazing amenities” are frequently highlighted, contributing to solid ratings around 4.4 out of 5 on Marriott’s website and between 9.0 and 9.2 on other platforms.

Enjoyed our stay at The Ballantyne, from start to finish the service was impeccable. Everyone was extremely welcoming, respectful and polite. The staff, service and breakfasts at the Gallery Restaurant were wonderful. Housekeeping kept our room spotless during our stay and the amenities were wonderful. Special thanks to Evan, Dir of Front Office and Maria G in Housekeeping for going above and beyond to make our stay extra special!

As a former Titanium Elite member and current Platinum Elite, I’ve stayed at countless hotels across the country, and I’ve never felt the need to write a review like this—until now. I was highly disappointed with my stay and truly expected more from a property under this brand.I booked this trip as a breather for my birthday, hoping to find some peace after recently losing a loved one. Instead, I was met with an experience that added to my grief. From the moment I arrived, I felt racially profiled—not just by the hotel staff but also in the restaurant. I was treated as if I didn’t belong or couldn’t afford to be there, solely based on the color of my skin. It was not only offensive but deeply hurtful. To make matters worse, the room wasn’t properly cleaned, and the bed was far from comfortable. For a hotel of this caliber, this was an insult to injury. To my fellow African American travelers: please be mindful when choosing to stay here. No one should ever be made to feel less than, especially during what should be a time of rest and healing.

My daughter took me and her two daughters for Sunday afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. It’s a pretty space and we had a lovely server. Food was nothing exceptional. It’s $50/pp and then a 24% service charge!! That’s outrageous. Then a tip line as well. I told my daughter she did not need to add a normal gratuity on top of the service charge but could leave a small tip because the server was so nice. She didn’t agree not agree and added more. I won’t go back here, there are other places to have a nice afternoon tea

Room 510…. The lamp to the left of the bed was not stable and the connections to the lamp for your charger was out. The toilet seat kept wiggling around. Spa was great! However….. if you want to relax and eat by the pool side after, you will have to go back upstairs to the spa reception. Not very helpful there. The restaurant served us fresh “Burnt” chips with our dip and so was the pizza. An older gentleman who looked like the Restaurant manager does not smile! He was happy speaking to others, just not us!

This place is full of accommodation! Never told me no. Serious about guest satisfactionTwo things that they lack, more choices on the menu for vegetarians etc. All I could have for Brunch was the Truffle fries. Another issue is there is no continental breakfast or even coffee in the room 🙄I found myself wanting to go out and eat even though I was staying in a LUXURY Hotel. That should not be. Otherwise it's a wonderful place to stay. The staff is top notch 👌

We spent a day at the spa and had the most enjoyable time! We were able to have lunch a drink and the most amazing massage I have had in a long time! This is defiantly a place I will look to recommend to my real estate clients in Charlotte and look to add a treat to their closing gifts! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

The Ballantyne Hotel is above & beyond any other hotel. Super clean, comfy beds & pillows, all amenities are top notch. Ryan at the front desk answered all my questions when I called; provided great suggestions & ideas. Ryan was patient, knowledgeable, funny, & engaging. Upon arrival after a 6 hour drive Matthew greeted me with a Genuine smile in 20 degree weather. Mathew went above & beyond. Getting my luggage & Christmas stuff to my room, even setting up Christmas tree for my celebration with my son while I prepared gifts & ordered room service all within 20 minutes!!When I needed my car Jeffrey brought it around making sure it was warm. Day of departure Jack was patient assisting me getting all my belongings to the car & keeping it warm. Ryan & Maggie expedited my check out knowing I had a 6 hour drive. As a GM Evan has found the perfect team to make your stay relaxing, special, & enjoyable. I will be back there again soon. When you visit Charlotte The Ballantyne Hotel will provide you the best experience!

A perfect option for the greater Charlotte area! We stayed for our honey moon and absolutely loved it here. The rooms have plenty of space and are very clean. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Likewise, Jeff in in-room dining helped create a memorable first night with organizing champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! We also tried the couples massage in the spa and the amenities, staff, and rooms were fantastic. The in hotel restaurant is also a must try, we chose to eat breakfast and prefer it over other options locally!

Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel

The Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel offers rooms with balconies, with guests specifically recommending those “facing the fountain” for the best views. While details about the balconies themselves are somewhat limited in reviews, the recommendation pattern suggests they’re a desirable feature at this property.

A major highlight is the “great rooftop bar,” which provides an alternative outdoor space even if you don’t book a balcony room. The hotel is described as “warm, welcoming, and unpretentiously stylish” with “vibrant color” and “impressive views of Uptown.”

For travelers seeking a stylish uptown hotel with balcony options and a popular rooftop space, the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel offers a solid choice, though be prepared for some potential service inconsistencies.

Super Loud outside. Forget going to bed before 2am. Terrible! Bathroom soap had black mold. They gave us a lousy $50 in room credit. Worst hotel I have ever stayed. Don’t know how this is 4.5 star. If I was young and wanted party then I can understand. Everyone outside seems to blast music and drive by revving their motor cycles.

Maaaan!! Come to Charlotte, NC. This hotel. The KIMPTON...she's freaking awesome. Check it out. The view all around is incredible, absolutely beautiful and astonishingly amazing. You will definitely have a GREAT! time at or around the hotel. Her surroundings have so much to offer. Arts, music, food, bars, and the most exciting thing she has are plenty of electronics to ride around on including tour bars, buses, parks, football/baseball stadiums and plenty of things to do around the kimpton. OH! She is beautiful. Hey! make sure you hit the whole area. A beautiful aray of different foods and bars. Enjoy! But let's not take advantage. Love Our QUEEN CITY with MotherF#$!*#! GRATITUDE!

The staff were genuinely friendly every time you encountered them; opening doors, calling elevators, and asking about your day. The rooms were nice and clean (I’d prefer better pillows and sheets), and quiet. The location was great for our stay which focused on the convention center.

My bestfriend got engaged here. This location is absolutely beautiful. The food was great , the hotel was secured beyond means and we had a great time. The rooftop heated bar so beautiful and the patio area outside are also heated by a fireplace you can sit around with very comfortable seating. Top tier location , me and my hubby will be back for a regular stay.

We stay here whenever we travel to Charlotte. It’s just a fun place to stay. The rooms are always clean and the outside rooms have a great view. The staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant is always delicious. The roof top bar is definitely a cool spot in town. It is centrally located in downtown.

The hotel, restaurant and valet staff were very nice and professional. The room could've been better. It's aesthetically pleasing until you take a closer look and see the dust where the snacks are and other people's hair in the bathroom. Other than that, the location is great, and we had a great time!

Loved this stay. Wish we had more than one night here, room was very comfortable. Bed and sheets were great. They even brought up a dog bed for our pup!Front desk was very personable, John Anthony was so sweet upon arrival. Loved having options of places to eat on premise and near by. The lobby serves coffee and croissants, which is such a great touch, if you want a fun latter or specialty coffee then hop Nextdoor to the water bean.Typically I like to have a gym accessible for my stay. This one was great, with a small patio and outdoor overlook it made me feel like I was in a much larger space. Plenty of equipment in there to get a good pump and run in!Would have over to visit the rooftop bar as well but time just didn’t permit

Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park

The Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park offers “King room with balcony” options that guests generally find “nice to have.” One particularly enthusiastic review highlighted the value proposition: “where else on major cities in NC are you finding rooms as nice as this with balconies for around 100 a night!?”

However, there’s an important caveat: “Some guests were disappointed to find that the rooms did not automatically come with a balcony, despite the advertisement.” This suggests you’ll need to specifically request a balcony room when booking to avoid disappointment.

I chose the hotel largely because it advertises an electric vehicle charger however the charger doesn't work. Otherwise the hotel was good especially for the price
Really disappointed by the hotel “gym” which is just five or six cardio machines, three of which do not work. No free weights. No additional equipment. Just towels and broken cardio equipment. The rooms are fine and clean, the hotel staff is very hospitable, but if you’re planning on getting a workout in, might as well find a local gym. A waste of pre-workout.

Inside is great! They hit you with a surprise parking surcharge and the bar/dinner closed at 9pm instead of the *in lobby listed* 10pm. Not the greatest view but what can you expect on this side of the city? 😂 Overall decent experience for a one night stay. Service was non existent from what I could see.

Courtyard by Marriott Ballantyne

The Courtyard by Marriott Ballantyne offers rooms with balconies that receive generally positive reviews. Guests have shared enthusiastic comments like “Our Balcony View Was Beautiful” and “I love the room with the balcony.”

A particularly appealing aspect is the potential for lake views, with advice to “Request a Room with a Lake View” as some guests were “pleasantly surprised by the lake view from their balconies.” There’s also a recommendation to “Confirm Balcony View” during booking, suggesting some variability in the outlooks.

Some negative reviews mention “significant complaints regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the property” and concerns about “outdated amenities and bathroom facilities.” There were also some issues raised about “the comfort of the beds.”

Dining-wise, be aware that the “Bistro style restaurant” doesn’t offer a free continental breakfast, and “Dinner and alcohol are very pricey.” One review also noted the absence of a microwave in the room.

For travelers seeking a balcony room in the Ballantyne area, particularly with potential lake views, this property offers a solid option with generally positive reviews, though with some caveats regarding amenities and maintenance.

Got here after 10PM, was concerned about the review regarding the truck break-in, but we left our luggage on a canvas bag on top of our vehicle all night (parked in a side lot) and no issues at all. Security head was at the front desk when we were checking in, asked him about it and he said it should be fine as there are not really any issues around that area.Rooms are awesome, staff is fantastic.

Marriot Bonvoy Ballantyne is a great hotel. We really loved using the pool with our grandkids. The Bistro has a great breakfast and Mary the hostess has been getting our breakfast and she is so sweet. The food she made was amazing and she took great care of us. What a nice stay!!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Courtyard, and I can confidently say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. From the moment I arrived, the staff Tyler and Keysha made me feel welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the entire property. I love the view I had as I worked from my room. One of the highlights was the hotel’s pool and restaurant. My kids enjoyed being able to swim during the winter. Zaine did his thing at the bar and the food was great. The location was perfect describe if it's near attractions, restaurants, or in a convenient area. It made exploring the city effortless and enjoyable.Overall, my stay exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality service, and a memorable experience. I can’t wait to return!

Front desk staff is pleasant and professional, however staffing their bistro and coffee area seems to be a challenge. Me and several coworkers have stayed here over the last six weeks and the bistro is typically closed for dinner service. The wait times in the morning for coffee are excessively long - you’re better off finding elsewhere after check out. The rooms are clean and recently renovated, but not sound proof at all. I was woken up during my last stay from gas station noise and this time by my neighbor at 1am.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay! The staff were incredibly attentive, courteous, and genuinely eager to ensure our experience was perfect. The room was spacious, and the king sized bed was very comfortable. Ms. Mary makes an amazing latte, and the food at the Bistro is a tasty and convenient option. The hotels location is perfect! The hotel offers easy access to nearby restaurants, attractions and walking trails, providing a peaceful retreat. We look forward to staying at The Courtyard Charlotte Ballantyne again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This is a great upper-3-star lower-4-star hotel. I was here for a week, splitting my time between business and volunteer work. The room was spacious, immaculate, and a great value. The staff went the extra mile in every way. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and even arranged to collect my (self-serve) laundry the day I left for work and forgot it in the dryer. Housekeeping was excellent and kept me topped up with everything I needed. The gym is small, but very clean with good equipment and I never had to wait to use one of the 2 treadmills. There is a pool, but I did not use it -- it's too small to do laps, and there is a window from the lobby looking over it.The restaurant (Bistro - order at the counter to dine in or takeaway) truly exceeded expectations. I ate most of my breakfasts there, and several dinners. The food was good (surprisingly good french fries!). Everyone at the restaurant did a great job, juggling taking orders and cooking, but there were 2 stand-outs: a young blonde woman (did not get her name) went out of her way to be helpful and make sure I had what I needed. Also Mary, who after my breakfast order the first day, remembered every morning what I liked and had it ready to go.The location cannot be beat. There are several shopping centers and restaurants a short walk or drive from here. I could walk to my office. It's also not far from the airport.I slept pretty well here, but very light sleepers will want ear plugs. I had one neighbor who was a bit noisy. There is a door to the stairs that has shrieking hinges (I probably should have reported that to maintenance). It was the only issue I encountered here, and in comparison to most hotels of this type, it was pretty quiet. All in all, a really solid hotel and I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in town.
