From breathtaking skyline views to serene mornings spent sipping coffee in the fresh air, these accommodations offer a unique perspective on one of the Southeast’s most dynamic cities.

If you’re looking for more seaside balcony options, consider exploring our guide to oceanfront hotels with balconies in Myrtle Beach. These Myrtle Beach accommodations offer stunning views of the Atlantic, perfect for those who want to combine city exploration in Charlotte with a relaxing beach getaway.

Uptown Elegance: AC by Marriott Charlotte

At AC by Marriott Charlotte, balconies are available in select rooms, with guests particularly recommending those “facing the nearby Spectrum Center” for the best views. One satisfied guest specifically mentioned “Lovevtye balcony and outside view,” confirming that these outdoor spaces deliver a positive visual experience.

However, there’s a notable caveat: some reviews mention noise from a “nightclub on the balcony,” which could be a dealbreaker if you’re a light sleeper or seeking tranquility. This is definitely something to consider when weighing your options.

My stay here was fine. There is room for improvement in customer service. A couple of front desk staff; young ladies, customer service was lacking and a bit odd.
Upon arrival, I waited in line for my turn, the young lady came in to start or assist and she just stood there while I was waiting. She never said anything so I didn't think she was open but once my turn to step forward came, between 3-5 minutes, she as well as the other assistant offered to help the next guest. I thought that was odd. My husband spoke to another young lady and she just stared at him, odd, he spoke to her again and she asked how can I help you, still not returning the gesture, odd. The check out assistant was really nice though. The older lady was also very nice. I didn't get anyone's names.
The bed was not comfortable. I think it was more of the pillows, maybe. The pillows sank while sleeping so I had to keep readjusting them and my position. I couldn't get comfortable.
FYI Parking is $10 a day and Buffet breakfast is $19
Parking is good, there are 2 levels.
I didn't try the breakfast.

We were in town for my cousins 50th birthday and had an amazing time at the AC hotel South Park. We had a huge group all staying at the hotel and u can’t thank the team at the hotel for making every moment amazingly special. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, rooms are large and very clean and the rooftop bar is a must do when visiting the area. Thank you very much to the staff at the hotel for making this a memorable visit. We will 100% be back to the AC next time we visit Charlotte.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Rooms were clean, check-in and checkout were effortless, and being steps from restaurants and the mall was a huge plus.

One snag though. Overnight parking fees were introduced after our room block contract was already signed. Wasn't ideal but the assistant manager stepped in and took care of it. That's good customer service.

The rooftop bar is a great spot but consistently understaffed. One bartender handling that crowd isn't enough and this wasn't our first time noticing it. Bringing in a second bartender would go a long way.

Good location, free parking and a comfortable bed. And It stops there. Had to agree to every other day housekeeping when I made the reservation through Marriott’s site. After second night, still no housekeeping and I stopped at the front desk to inquire and was told that our room “‘might” still get made up. I reminded the clerk that their promise was every other day and was told that many other guests requested housekeeping as well and the clerk said that they would reach out to the housekeeping manager to try to get our room serviced. So, what is supposed to be one of Marriott’s upscale brands seems to fall short on guest services.

Topping that off, there are coffee makers in the rooms using a cheap no name brand of coffee. We tried one cup and it tasted very stale. The hotel does not offer complimentary freshly brewed coffee in the lobby as most hotels do. Rather, they are happy to sell you a cup of drip coffee for $3.25.

Very disappointed in this hotel and it seems like some poor decisions were made regarding things that negatively impact guest services.

For me, it's the best hotel in the city. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by an exquisite aroma, and the facilities are spotless. The staff is incredibly friendly; David at reception was very kind and professional, and what I enjoyed most was the breakfast—an impeccable buffet. The room was comfortable, and I truly slept well; the gym was very well-equipped. I would definitely return.

Very nice, new (seems like new), sparkling clean, very modern hotel in a nice upscale neighborhood. Friendly staff. Great bathroom and shower. Good size room. Bed a bit soft for my liking but I prefer real firm mattress. Lots of good food within walking distance. Fancy mall and other shopping within a couple blocks if you like that sort of stuff. Reasonable price too.
Located in SouthPark, it’s the ideal location for out-of-town guest. The bartender upstairs was lots of fun made a great drink. I had a Cosmo and my date had an “old fashion” cocktail.

The staff was warm and friendly, the breakfast buffet was delicious- not your standard hotel breakfast, the room was nice and the bed surprisingly comfortable. A few downsides to my stay was they were doing road construction and couldn’t enter the hotel which we weren’t notified about, and the toilet in the room was square..? It was uncomfortable and small but that is the only downside! The location is gorgeous and convenient to shopping and dining.

My husband and I stayed here for a staycation, and it was absolutely perfect. The AC Marriott in Charlotte’s SouthPark area is a modern, beautifully designed hotel that perfectly blends style and comfort. The décor is sleek and minimalist, giving the entire space a relaxing, upscale vibe from the moment you walk in.

The rooftop lounge is a highlight with outdoor seating, cozy fire pits, and TVs. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with a drink or enjoy a casual evening together. The atmosphere feels fun yet refined, making it one of the best rooftops in the area.

The location can’t be beat. It’s an easy walk to SouthPark Mall and surrounded by great restaurants, offering plenty of dining and shopping options without ever needing to drive.

Whether you’re visiting for business, a weekend getaway, or a local staycation like us, the AC Marriott delivers on comfort, convenience, and style. A top pick for anyone looking to stay in SouthPark!

My family enjoyed themselves while staying here. We liked that it was quiet and that the beds were comfortable. The 24hr gym is a nice amenity along with the options for snacks etc..Th only thing was that the breakfast is not included but you definitely have options surrounding. The Location is really good because a lot of places are walkable or bikeable with there bike program. If this stays consistent this will definitely be our go to place in the city.

If I could give this place 6/5 stars, I would. The location is perfect, it’s beautiful and safe and quiet. The hotel is beautiful and it smells amazing inside. The staff was always so friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms were clean and spacious. The shower had a rain shower head- absolute luxury! I was honestly sad to leave this hotel. It will be a must the next time I am staying in Charlotte!

Edit: The hotels response to this is patronizing and condescending. We all KNOW what happened to the item. I hope one of your staff is enjoying them.

My AirPods were taken from my room immediately after I checked out. I realized I had left them and tried calling the hotel. They said the room had been cleaned and the cleaning staff hadn't mentioned anything about them. Guess where we won't be staying again? I would suggest that you decline any room cleaning here and lock things in the safe when you leave.

Overall, I really enjoyed this Hotel. It’s very clean and quiet, and in a great location. The fitness center is good enough for business travel and the rooftop bar is decent. I honestly thought that the rooftop bar would’ve been a little more attractive. One thing that definitely upset me was the breakfast setup. They had a standard drip coffee urn station with the continental breakfast, and when I went to get my own to go cup before I left the lady there informed me that my cup of coffee was $3.25. I’ve never been charged for self-service drip coffee at any Hhotel that I’ve visited in my entire life, including countries outside of the US. That was ridiculous. I put the cup down and left. This reminds me of restaurants that charge you for refills for iced tea. A complete rip off.

Very new and clean. Some strange design choices in the rooms....including a 100 lb. glass panel hung barn door style for the bathroom. One could hear every event that occurred in the bath with clarity. In general, the rooms was noisey from some ventilation that ran 24/7. Our room was one of a block that was reserved for the guests attending a local family wedding. Those who reserved with the block didn't receive breakfast vouchers. Those who didn't, received vouchers. There was no obvious signage to indicate that there was a cost for the breakfast. Only noticed after I served myself and sat down to see a card on the table indicating $19 for the breakfast buffet, which was mediocre at best. If you wanted coffee, it was $3.25 (Starbucks swill)....no thanks.

PLEASE be aware of where you park. The top floor of the parking deck does NOT have any cameras and NO cameras on backside of hotel!!!!!!!!!! Me and my wife just got back from our weekend getaway for the coke 600 race. Woke up this morning May 26,2025 to my back window glass busted and my truck was broken into and ransacked!!!!!!! Hotel manager said there is nothing they can do. Filed a police report and CMPD also said there is nothing they could do! So be aware of where you park!!! Park YOUR vehicle in the bottom floor parking deck where there is cameras!!!! The stay was great. The nicest hotel me and my wife has ever stayed in.

A very nice e hotel and sweet staff along with cool rooms, although sizing was a factor and made some of the cooler features of the bathroom and shower less than desirable. The overall stay was cool, but the main issue that made the biggest impression overall was the over the top food prices, which, when compared to the food, was terrible. I hate to be less than positive but as much as people spend to stay at these establishments it's just unfair and greedy to charge these prices when the products your offering don't match up to the price points.

Very well maintained beautiful quiet hotel. Great location close to many options for restaurants and shopping. Staff is friendly and the room was exceptionally clean. Housekeeping is top notch! Only downside was the bed was not very comfortable and did not like the feather pillows- but that is a personal preference.
Parking was easy.
Concierge staff was great.
Breakfast was really good. Bacon was crispy and perfect, the croissants were amazing.
They charge for coffee (not sure if there was a complimentary station somewhere and I missed it, not sure.)
Great area. Safe.
I didn’t check out the rooftop bar. I wish I had.
Room service didn’t come at all so I thought that was different.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights visiting our son and his family. What a beautiful and welcoming hotel! It seems to be new and from the friendly welcome at the front desk to workers in the restaurant, the housecleaners, and others in the elevator, everyone was so friendly and polite. Our room was spotless and quiet, the mattress was firm, and we had an in-room refrigerator and safe. The rooftop was quite nice, although it would have been even better if open during the day, with a nice view of the city skyline. Breakfast was fantastic with cooked-to-order eggs and a nice buffet of fresh fruit, scones, bacon, yogurt, croissants, oatmeal, and so much more. We'll be back!

I hate to give The Ivey’s a bad review because I stayed here on another occasion and loved it. Unfortunately, they earned this downgrade. The service during our one night staycation was absolutely abysmal. To begin, we asked the front desk if the alcohol could be removed from our mini bar and wet bar. I think her exact words were, “I’ll have to see if that’s something we can do.” I informed her it was imperative. The following run around of calls down to the front desk, transfers to in-room dining, being ignored, and more calls (we were being very patient) was kind of ridiculous. When two people finally showed up to remove the alcohol, they were very very kind. Later after dinner when we returned to our room, we tried calling the front desk SEVERAL times to be transferred so that we could order a few bottles of water. Despite having seen the employee sitting at the desk only minutes earlier, she never answered and we never received water. The next morning, we asked for a late check out, and were given a short “that can’t be accommodated today” with no explanation. Mind you the hotel seemed rather sparsely filled (we had seen one other guest the entire stay.) I don’t think I have ever been turned down a late check out in a 4+ star hotel. The $30 “cappuccinos” we ordered to the room were watery lattes at best. Finally, at 11:02 as we were literally approaching our door to leave our room, the doorbell rang. It was a lady with a clipboard essentially hurrying us out. She proceeded down the hall to do the same to another room. We have stayed in MANY four and five star accommodations around the country and world and have NEVER. Not even in a bustling Hampton Inn, been “kicked out” of a room at check-out. We asked another employee upon exiting if they had a lot of arrivals that day, and they were like, “meh… not really”. This hotel needs a refresher course on what hospitality means. These prices do not reflect our experience. The elevator was also out of service. And according to previous reviews, it had been out of service for months. The rooms however, are stunning.

Short stay for only two nights, but my wife absolutely loved this hotel. In short, it’s the girliest hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I mean that in a good way. Decor and style at every step. The rooms were well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Their restaurant/bar ha d strong speakeasy vibe. Lastly, it’s in the middle of everything. My wife wants to take her girlfriends back. Highly recommended.

Cons:
1. Elevator was not working
2. Incorrect or misleading explanation of charges and credit balances(credit card benefit)
3. Room facing downtown nightclub with loud noise all night
4. Combining some charges for 2 separate bookings while requiring a re-check-in
5. Tv was low resolution and did not have airplay. Only HDMI connectivity
6. Breakfast on the 2nd morning was extremely limited selection due to them “not having a chef” that morning (This was Sunday)

Pros:
1. Polite staff willing to help
2. Rooms themselves were great
3. Hotel location is good, downtown Charlotte is great and close to most things
4. Cocktail lounge is great
5. Library is a unique benefit
6. Valet parking had EV charging included

I will update the review if we are able to work with the hotel on the charges and credits portion.

This is one of Charlotte’s most refined boutique luxury hotels. Walking in feels more like entering a European-style private residence than a typical hotel—dark woods, rich textures, and a quiet, intimate atmosphere.
Rooms are designed with detail in mind—custom furnishings, curated decor, and a level of polish that feels intentional rather than generic. It’s the kind of place where everything feels elevated but never flashy.
The real appeal is how personal it feels. It’s perfect for a romantic staycation or upscale weekend, where the experience is about comfort, privacy, and understated luxury.

I’ve stayed at and dined in hotels all over the Northeast, and I can say without hesitation that Anthony at Ivy’s Hotel sets a new standard for hospitality.

Anthony is not just a bartender — he is a professional who operates with an exceptional level of precision, awareness, and pride in his craft. His attention to detail rivals that of an emergency room administrator: calm under pressure, anticipatory, and fully in control of his environment. Whether you’re seated at the bar or dining in the restaurant, he remains completely in tune with his guests and their needs without ever being intrusive.

What truly separates Anthony is his ability to manage multiple guests seamlessly while making each person feel individually cared for. His knowledge, timing, and situational awareness are outstanding, and it’s clear he takes his role seriously and performs it with genuine pride.

Hospitality like this is rare. Anthony doesn’t just enhance the Ivy’s experience — he defines it. If every establishment had someone like him, the industry would be in a much better place.

My husband reserved us a room for a couple of nights stay at "The Ivey's Hotel" for my birthday and this hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The interior design of the entire hotel is a mix of modern and vintage decor. The suite was so beautiful...it was spacious and wonderfully appointed (too much to describe here in my review). The service was top tier...very professional and attentive. We also liked that the hotel was in walking distance to shopping, the Belk theater and other restaurants if you choose to venture outside of the hotel for some of your meals. We are already planning our next stay!

My stay at The Ivey’s Hotel in Charlotte was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The moment I walked into the lobby, I was struck by the hotel’s elegant design — a perfect blend of historic charm and modern sophistication. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, making me feel like a valued guest right away.

My room was stunning: spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated with thoughtful details that made all the difference. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bathroom luxurious, and I loved the high-end touches like the Nespresso machine and plush robes.

The Library Lounge was one of my favorite spots — a cozy, quiet retreat where I enjoyed complimentary breakfast in the morning and a relaxing glass of wine in the evening. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, just steps away from great restaurants, shops, and attractions.

Every interaction with the staff felt genuine — they clearly take pride in providing an exceptional guest experience. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines such personalized service with boutique luxury, but The Ivey’s does it effortlessly.

I can’t recommend The Ivey’s Hotel highly enough. Whether you’re visiting Charlotte for business or leisure, this is the place to stay. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

For the price and reputation, this hotel was a huge disappointment. No valet available when we arrived because of a festival — we had to park in a public garage, walk with our luggage, and no one answered the phone despite calling 5 times. Only after we mentioned we were going back to move the car did the staff offer to comp valet. No pool. Bar and restaurant service were rude. The front desk told us the kitchen closed at 1am, but the bar refused to take an order at 12. Water pressure in the shower was terrible. Room service added a 22% automatic gratuity plus a $5 fee, which is ridiculous and they didn’t tell us about breakfast or where it was when we checked in and was implied most people have their breakfast brought to the room which makes sense because of the auto fees and gratuity in fine fine print at the bottom of the menu,. Our room key randomly stopped working and we had to go back to the desk to fix it. Walking outside at night felt unsafe — there were people standing on vehicles, heavy police presence, visible crime, and many homeless individuals in the area.

This property is listed as part of American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, but it was anything but that. Nothing about the experience felt like a true luxury stay.

This is just a few of the reasons I’ll never be back. Save your money and stay somewhere that actually has the staff, parking, safety, and accommodations to back up their prices.

Went there with my wife this past weekend and we had a great time. The hotel was beautiful, super clean and the room was amazing. They provide a vast variety of drinks and some snacks in the room for purchase. The shower was spacious, the bathtub was nice, the room was super comfy and the bed is a King Size bed (a little rigid for our liking, but still nice). The only thing we didn’t like is the fact that our room is literally facing the sidewalk so, for privacy, we needed to close the curtains the whole time. Also, if you’re looking for a more relaxing environment in the hotel surroundings during your stay, here, during the weekends, gets really ‘busy’. A lot of nightlife in the area. If you’re looking for that, then you’ll love it. Still, we basically stayed at the hotel the whole time, and had a great time. 🙌🏻🙏🏻🤍 Definitely recommend it!

Our stay at the Ivy Hotel was amazing. We were impressed with the decor and location. It's a luxury hotel, and it was affordable since this hotel is partnered with Stash Hotel Rewards. I would recommend both. Be aware that the gratuity for room service will be included in your bill. I paid cash without knowing this. My issue was addressed and resolved.

Beautiful boutique hotel perfect for celebrating something special. The cocktails at the lounge are delicious and the gym is awesome. It’s got the best personal mini bar in each room and everything you need for a comfy stay in each room. I couldn’t find a water machine so bring your own water if you drink a ton like I do. It’s an absolutely fabulous boutique hotel.
I don't often make time for a staycation, but I couldn't resist booking a stay at The Ivey's Hotel in Charlotte. Navigating traffic in Uptown is always a little stressful, but as soon as I stepped inside, I could feel my shoulders relax.

Check-in was a breeze, and soon we were heading upstairs to our room (note: the elevator was out of service at my visit, so you may need to ask about accommodations). Space in any large city is a hot commodity, and I honestly couldn't believe the size of our room. It was incredibly spacious with plenty of room to breathe, even though it was fully furnished with a plush King bed, seating area, wet bar, work station, and more. And the bathroom—I wished I could carve it out and take it home with me.

But the best thing about our room may have been the balcony. It was such a treat to step outside and feel the energy of the city I'm proud to call home.

You can leave the hotel if you want—you're right in the heart of everything, after all—but there really isn't a reason to. Sophia's Lounge is connected to the hotel, and it offers delicious cocktails and small plates. Our server Jordan helped guide us through the tempting menu, and we landed on a perfect mix of bites and sips for the evening (don't forget your free glass of wine during guest happy hour—Anthony made sure our pours were generous!).

In the morning, you can order room service from a European-inspired menu. Breakfast in bed is the best way to end a hotel stay without getting the end-of-vacation blues.

If you're looking for a luxurious and local stay in Uptown, I highly recommend a stay at The Ivey's. Thanks to Madison and Marissa for making sure we enjoyed a stay to remember!

A horrible location on a busy street gave the valet cash tips and was charged tips on my credit card too ($40 parking per night + $13 tips)
The room was smaller than the online photos made it appear, but it was a very nice and clean room nonetheless, I enjoyed the expensive in-room wet bar and the well-appointed bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were not as flat as in other 4-star hotels I've stayed at. The in-hotel restaurant, Sophia's Lounge was nice and worth a try. The pork belly and scallops were worth a try (the pork belly the scallops not so much)
All in all, I would stay there again, with some experience-based adjustments.

On March 23rd, my family and I stayed one night at The Ivey’s Hotel. Upon arrival we were very happy with the service and how beautiful the hotel was. Everything was very clean and we were happy to be there. During the night I was woken by a loud, clanging pipe noise and then the running of our toilet. It happened over and over throughout the night, which evidently left me with little sleep. In the morning I went into the restroom to check out the situation and I could see a brown line in the toilet from the running water, so I knew this is not a new issue. This means that the hotel put us in that room when they were aware of the broken toilet. Then when my family checked out, they informed us that the valet was not there and we would have to take the employee elevator down to the garage. Once the employee put us in the elevator, we couldn’t get out. The elevator would move between floors but it would not open. I was stuck on the elevator with my husband and two young children. Eventually the doors opened back to the main floor. The employee then informed us that we needed her key card which is why we got stuck. Once again, a situation that could have been prevented. After a nine hour drive we reached home but realized my son left his stuffed animal dog at the hotel. I called and left a message telling them about the situation and asking for them to return my call. I understand that this is just a toy, but they never called me back. I left a review on Trip Advisory about this experience. The hotel replied to my review and stated that the situation had been taken care of and that I found the dog. This reply from the hotel is not true at all. I never found the dog. I called the hotel and spoke to Josh and asked him to have this reply removed since it wasn’t true. Josh said he would have it taken down or corrected, he would check on the dog and call me back. That was four days ago and I’m still waiting for the false information to be removed and for Josh to return my phone call.

Our room was above the lobby and we heard the doors opening and closing all night. The hotel itself is very cool and retro with an amazing convenient location downtown Charlotte. I've stayed at the Ivey's many times and have always enjoyed my visits. I stayed 3 nights this week. The room was perfect as usual. The housekeeping staff and valet staff were wonderful. I ate breakfast at Sophie's every morning and the food was amazing and the staff was superb. The bartenders in the library and Sophie's were lovely.

However, due to the unprofessional and rude front desk member, I will not return. I usually assume if someone is rude once, they may just be having a bad day, but if it is a repeated pattern over the course of multiple encounters - it's a problem. I even tried to extend my stay and was told by this member of your staff (twice) that I couldn't stay an additional night. Luckily, the front desk member who replaced her in the morning was far more accommodating and I was able to stay.

The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I will switch my business back to the Bohemian when I return to uptown.

Disappointing Service for a “5-Star” Hotel

We’ve stayed at The Ivey Hotel three times over the last few months, spending thousands on their most premium rooms. While our first two stays in the balcony rooms were pleasant, our most recent experience in the executive suite was a major letdown. The lighting in the suite is incredibly poor, making the room feel dim and unwelcoming. The in-room technology is outdated—the TV is old, and the tablets are so slow they’re practically unusable.

One of the few highlights of the hotel is the housekeeping staff—they are fantastic. Friendly, detail-oriented, and clearly take pride in their work. Unfortunately, the front desk and valet service are a completely different story.

At check-in, the receptionist made no effort to be welcoming. Despite seeing that we had our hands full with luggage, she didn’t offer to help, didn’t provide a pen when asking us to sign documents, and barely acknowledged our presence. Meanwhile, two other employees were loudly arguing next to us—hardly the level of professionalism one expects from a luxury hotel.

The valet service was just as disappointing. It was raining when we arrived, and instead of offering to help with bags or even open car doors, the valet staff stood under the awning, letting us and our luggage get drenched. Again, this is supposed to be a five-star hotel, yet the service we received was barely on par with a three-star experience.

The Ivey has potential, but without significant improvements in service, it’s failing to meet the expectations of high-end travelers. We won’t be returning.

This hotel is super cute! Boutique style. French Parisian and classy! I think there’s only 40 rooms? But it’s attached to condos that run about $1.2M so we felt like we were staying somewhere extra fancy just knowing that lol 😝

The bottom floor leads into a market that has several quick eats - mostly Korean which is awesome to see as I’m Korean and have a hard time finding restaurants from South Korea! We didn’t try it but grabbed a water before walking uptown and the cashier was one of the happiest people I’ve ever met!

We ordered in room service (truffle fries and skillet cookie) and the gentleman who brought it was incredibly professional and on time. There was also a small bottle of champagne on ice after re returned from our walk!

Later on in the evening there was a turndown service and offered us chocolates and asked if we needed any extra blankets, pillows, or towels.

The next morning we had the sweetest hostess/sever ever! Ashley (I think was her name) was quick, knowledgeable, and interested in our reason for visiting/adventures! Couldn’t be happier with Sophie’s breakfast selection. I had the yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, and an eggs Benedict while my hubby had the Lottie bagel which he loved especially with the pickled onions with fresh fruit and hash browns which were different and 🤤 delicious!

Wonderful! Amazing! 🤩 experience!! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an amazing boutique style night away from home 😍

Great location, very nice, elegant, and overall a very clean hotel.

The bed was very hard and our room was street view and we found that the rooms did not insulate sound very well from people driving by with music or from people on the street talking very loud.

The hotel decided to tip themselves 24% gratuity on food taken from the minibar, which I felt was inappropriate. Parking is also $45 a night, which is not unheard of for Charlotte, but check-in took a little longer than expected and the person at the front did not mention the fee (I am guessing it was somewhere in the paperwork I signed but was tired by the time it was my turn to check in and I missed it because I was in a hurry). Edit - I found a welcome email that stated parking was $45 a night in small print at the bottom of an email.

While the hotel was overall nice, due to taxes and other fees, the price for one night stay ended up being 1/3 over what was listed on the website.

The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte

Similar to The Ivey’s, guest feedback for The Ballantyne recommends rooms “with a balcony facing the fountain” for optimal views. The hotel offers balconies across various accommodation types, including the “One-Bedroom Presidential Suite” with a “private balcony” and a “Four-Bedroom Cottage” that also features outdoor space.

This suggests a range of balcony experiences depending on your room category, with the more premium options likely offering more spacious and well-appointed outdoor areas.

The Ballantyne generally earns high marks from guests, often described as “absolutely stunning” with “impeccable service” and “outstanding food.” The “amazing amenities” are frequently highlighted, contributing to solid ratings around 4.4 out of 5 on Marriott’s website and between 9.0 and 9.2 on other platforms.

This hotel is hands down the best in the area. All the staff was friendly, welcoming, wonderful and very helpful. Their complementary refreshments are that good. I called the front staff a few times with requests and they deliver on time and nicely every single time. The concierge was wonderful, we end up trying a few places she recommended, and the shuttle was available at all times and super friendly. I fell in love with this place, the garden was pretty and the fresh flowers in the reception area were beautiful. The bedroom was exquisite.
Beautiful hotel! Easy to find. Comfy bed. Plenty of amenities (coffee, pools, hot tub, gym, and restaurants). Easy walking to a bunch of other locations. I felt very safe and secure here. Hot water is very hot and instantaneous! Gym had a great variety of weights and work out gear. The gym and pool were never busy!

Some improvements: cooling in the bedrooms - I was unable to leave the fan ON all night. Access to sauna/steam room would be a nice gym addition. Parking was tricky as it required a room key. Unable to park before check in. Extend the key card reader for parking lot further out to prevent tire rub.

Here for a work conference and everything the staff did was above and beyond. They prepared breakfast and dinner buffets and I was really impressed with the quality. All of the service staff was very professional and friendly.
We spent one evening in the Top Golf Swing Suite and again I couldn't be more impressed with the F&B team running the event.
The hotel is huge and a bit of a maze but there were plenty of signs and staff was very helpful. Every part of the building I was was well maintained and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend this venue.

I was truly excited to stay at the Ballantyne Hotel upon recommendation from a friend. All was well until day two. Imagine my shock and concern when I arrived at my room to see the door held open by the security bar and all of my personal items available to anyone passing by. Imagine my surprise to see a microwave placed on the study table that I never requested. I immediately called down to the Front Desk requesting an explanation and only received “This is out of protocol and we’ll look into it.” Twenty minutes later knock on door house keeping manager apologizing and removes microwave. That’s it, no follow up from management explaining security protocols to ensure this doesn’t happen again. No follow-up to ensure that my personal effects were not taken. No follow-up to make certain I was ok. The experience was unnerving and ruined my last night in Charlotte. Do your research before booking this hotel. I will make my reservations at an ACTUAL reputable luxury hotel on my next visit.

We booked our room in August of 2025 for our 25 year Anniversary on February 2026.
Our confirmation on our paperwork that was printed back in August of 2025 had a time of arrival at 11:00 am, which I am assuming we had an early check in, based of the time of the check-in at 11:00 we scheduled a couples massage appointment at 12:00 pm thinking we would have a room by then.
Then we made a dinner reservation for 5:00 pm at the Gallery Restaurant.
So on the day we arrived 2/21/2026 at 11:00 am, we we're told that check in isn't until 4:00 pm, well this is now the start of an upsetting Anniversary. After speaking to the front desk they said we could use the facilities, how practical is that, we go get our spa treatment, we go find our suitcase and bags take our clothes to a restroom to get changed to go to the pool, return the suitcases because I'm not going to drag our luggage around, get our room by 4 hurry up and shower get changed and make it to the restaurant by 5. To me that is not a relaxing experience.
I will say that 11:45 came around and a room became available but at this point we are so upset with this situation that we canceled everything, not to mention the manager gave us a scenario that if they had filled the rooms the night before that my reservation didn't warrant them to hold a room because this is a business.
This was to be a great experience, and failed from the moment I booked 6 month prior.
I received messages from the concierge if at any moment 4:00 pm was mentioned, we would have understood better, we we're told 4:00 pm is the regular check-in, well we don't travel much so how would we know this??? when again our paperwork said 11:00am.
We don't travel to often and here is a good example why.
Not to mention they charge to park,
So you pay a couple hundred to stay a night then have to pay to park, the manager is right this is a business and they are going to get everything they can from you.

Edit: I like how management will post apologies in review replies to publicly save face but offer no actual resolutions. Bumping down for that. Also unable to see my review on another computer so not sure what they’re doing to it.

Stayed 2 nights this past weekend and the best I can describe the experience at the hotel is “awkward”. Booked through chase’s “the edit” which provides a series of perks and upon checking in the possibility of a room upgrade as entitled to was never discussed by staff. Additionally the “welcome amenity” included on the list of perks handed to me by staff was no where to be found and when that was brought up they made me feel crazy for asking and was essentially told that they would send me something if they felt like it, and guess what, they didn’t.

Housekeeping was on another level of bothersome. At all hours there were carts in the hallways, in the elevators, and supplies all over the common space decor. I never left the room without essentially tripping over a cart, sometimes back to back where the hallway became effectively closed.

Afternoon tea was nice, just be prepared for a 24% SERVICE CHARGE that is also TAXED before you even get to the standard gratuity line. No explanation or rationale of what it goes to or what expectations are, just an extra mugging before you walk out.

Was hard to even leave the hotel as upon asking for my final bill, they had me stand around while they went back and forth “fixing” a credit on the bill so I could pay more money.

All in, this property is missing a lot of the “little things” that make service exceptional. I’ve felt more welcome at the holiday inn and for the price I think the choice next time is clear.

We live in Charlotte & while I have not stayed here, I have attended events here. The property is stunning & exactly what one would expect from a Marriott Luxury Collection property (franchised by Northwood Hospitality). We are long time, very loyal Marriott customers so we are well acquainted with their standards for excellence. We selected The Ballantyne for our daughter's Afternoon Tea bridal shower after attending their Afternoon Tea service one weekend. We could not have been more disappointed in the experience. We had to search out staff to fix things that were set up incorrectly or to replace dirty "clean" dishes, there was no communication or organization around the service & overall communication was significantly lacking. They forgot to serve until we asked about it near the end of the event. When they finally brought it out, it was served barely chilled & many did not want to drink that close to the end of the event as they would be driving soon. While the staff we did encounter were very nice & apologetic, it doesn't take away the disappointing experience that was obvious to our guests on such a special day. When I reached out to the salesperson with whom I coordinated the event, the best they would offer is to remove the champagne off the bill we pre-paid for. They kept the 24% automatic gratuity/service charge & I have yet to hear from this person's leader as requested. So, while the property IS beautiful, their ability to execute a small bridal shower was beyond disappointing - especially for what they charge. If they can't pull that off, I can't imagine the chaos a large wedding or busy event would be.

We traveled to Charlotte to take our kids for a holiday experience and stayed at The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, for one night — and what we experienced was exactly what hospitality should look like.

From the moment we arrived, the managers and staff went out of their way to ensure our kids had the most memorable experience possible. This wasn’t just good service — it was thoughtful, proactive, and genuinely kind. Without being asked, the team took it upon themselves to make our kids feel special, welcomed, and celebrated, which meant everything to us as parents.

The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly engaging, setting the tone immediately. You could feel that they truly cared, not just about us as guests, but about creating a meaningful experience for our family.

Food and room service were outstanding — timely, delicious, and delivered with care and attention to detail. Even in such a short stay, every interaction felt polished yet personal, which is rare and deeply appreciated.

The room itself was immaculate, comfortable, and calming — the perfect place to unwind after an exciting day for the kids.

What truly sets The Ballantyne apart is the heart behind the service. The staff and management didn’t just provide a place to stay — they created a memory for our family. That level of hospitality leaves a lasting impression, and it’s why this hotel stands out as a true luxury experience.

We will absolutely be back.

Special thanks to Blake at the front desk who went the extra mile when our room was not ready to accommodate our luggage and made us comfortable while we waited. From the moment we arrived, this hotel exceeded every expectation. The front desk team was efficient and genuinely welcoming. Every question was handled with ease and every request felt like a priority.

The room itself was spotless, and you can tell housekeeping takes real pride in their work everything was clean and beautifully maintained throughout our stay. The cleaning staff was so kind always greeting us with a smile. A special shoutout to Marlos at the front door who was absolutely amazing helping us with our bags and guiding us to our room on arrival.

The amenities across the property were just as impressive. They were well kept and truly luxurious. Everywhere we went the staff was attentive and consistently made us feel taken care of. Overall this is one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had and we can’t wait to return!

My husband was hitting a benchmark birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere special.
I certainly found it in a “ staycation “ at the Hotel Ballantyne.
From the warm welcome from Blake and Olivia at the front desk to Blake’s announcement that our room was ready more than two hours early, each and every detail was executed to perfection.
After getting our luggage settled in our room, we attended the High Tea, my husband’s second birthday surprise . We were seated in a corner in two high back chairs that made us feel like royalty. The service from Leila convinced us that we were. To add another thoughtful detail, when Leila found out it was my husband’s birthday, she brought a tart placed in rose petals with a lit birthday candle.
We were visited multiple times during the tea by a very attentive young woman who was one of the food and beverage managers. I’m so sorry that her name escapes me.
Our room was so lovely! It was both well appointed and spacious and had a balcony and a gorgeous bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom were meticulous.
When it became time for dinner we went to talk with the concierge, Sherri. She was a wealth of information which was delivered with a very sincere concern to help. After recommending a few restaurants, she told us that the hotel had a shuttle if we were interested. We were. When she was unable to locate the shuttle driver she just said, “ I’ll take you myself!” Now THAT’S service! She was absolutely delightful!
I cannot recommend the Hotel Ballantyne highly enough. I have stayed in many beautiful places with excellent service. The warmth and care given to us at the Hotel Ballantyne certainly is on par with any of them.
We’ll be back!

The wife and I love the Ballantyne and will only use this hotel anytime we go to Charlotte.

I bargain shopped a hotel in Rock Hill and quickly found out that was a mistake. We were able to book a room the same night around 10pm at the Ballantyne so we did not have to stay at this other hotel.
When we arrived we were definitely not dressed for the occasion. We had spend the day on a mountain so we were a little dirty and dressed for the outdoors. People at the counter did not treat us poorly or act like snobs about it. The lobby is beautiful and we love the gold elevators.

In the morning we went to the restaurant. Everything that we ordered was amazing and the staff were very friendly.

We took an outdoor stroll around the building and the grounds were clean, litter free, and landscaped nicely.

The Ballantyne saved our mountain trip!

Get these guys as your server at the pool, they’re fun and you’ll have a great time! I was here for the spa and they did a good job checking up on me to make sure I had champagne constantly. Summer is the best time to spa to enjoy all the amenities.
I had the pleasure of staying at The Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte last week while attending a wedding, and the experience was outstanding. The rooms were impeccably clean and surprisingly spacious—truly comfortable and well-maintained.

The location was perfect, close to everything I needed and easy to get around. But what really made the stay memorable was the incredible hospitality. I have to give a special shout-out to Marlos, a staff member who went above and beyond. He was extremely welcoming upon my arrival and even recommended a great local restaurant—then personally took me there! That level of service is rare and truly appreciated.

Highly recommend this hotel for both events and personal stays. I’ll definitely be back!

BEWARE!! We were here for a five night stay and on our last night our car along with MANY others got broken into. The front desk was absolutely no help. Manager said this had never happened before. The officer who did the report said it’s a common occurrence there. They didn’t make guests aware at all. A simple sign at desk that reminds guest to lock doors and remove valuables would’ve been nice. Upon check out we were not notified of the incident. Only when we went out to our vehicle we noticed glass all over the parking lot and unfortunately our car was one of the targeted vehicles. Absolutely nothing was done by the hotel to help. I will never return based on how poorly the situation was handled. Still no one has reached out to check on us and apologize for the huge inconvenience.

My experience at The Ballantyne Hotel was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism that set the tone for my entire stay. The hotel exudes luxury with every detail — from the beautifully designed rooms to the immaculate grounds.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, always with genuine hospitality and a smile. The amenities were top-tier — I especially enjoyed the spa services, which left me completely relaxed and recharged. Courtney gave an excellent salt scrub body (stress relief body ritual).

The gym has a great variety of equipment. I got my 10k step in with their treadmill.

Dining at the hotel was a treat; the food was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and the service was impeccable. Every space in the hotel feels elegant, comfortable, and welcoming — perfect for both business and leisure.

I forgot to take room photos because I jumped in the bed so quick!

As a former Titanium Elite member and current Platinum Elite, I’ve stayed at countless hotels across the country, and I’ve never felt the need to write a review like this—until now. I was highly disappointed with my stay and truly expected more from a property under this brand.

I booked this trip as a breather for my birthday, hoping to find some peace after recently losing a loved one. Instead, I was met with an experience that added to my grief. From the moment I arrived, I felt racially profiled—not just by the hotel staff but also in the restaurant. I was treated as if I didn’t belong or couldn’t afford to be there, solely based on the color of my skin. It was not only offensive but deeply hurtful.

To make matters worse, the room wasn’t properly cleaned, and the bed was far from comfortable. For a hotel of this caliber, this was an insult to injury.

To my fellow African American travelers: please be mindful when choosing to stay here. No one should ever be made to feel less than, especially during what should be a time of rest and healing.

My daughter took me and her two daughters for Sunday afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. It’s a pretty space and we had a lovely server. Food was nothing exceptional. It’s $50/pp and then a 24% service charge!! That’s outrageous. Then a tip line as well. I told my daughter she did not need to add a normal gratuity on top of the service charge but could leave a small tip because the server was so nice. She didn’t agree not agree and added more. I won’t go back here, there are other places to have a nice afternoon tea

Room 510…. The lamp to the left of the bed was not stable and the connections to the lamp for your charger was out. The toilet seat kept wiggling around. Spa was great! However….. if you want to relax and eat by the pool side after, you will have to go back upstairs to the spa reception. Not very helpful there. The restaurant served us fresh “Burnt” chips with our dip and so was the pizza. An older gentleman who looked like the Restaurant manager does not smile! He was happy speaking to others, just not us!

Two things that they lack, more choices on the menu for vegetarians etc. All I could have for Brunch was the Truffle fries. Another issue is there is no continental breakfast or even coffee in the room 🙄

A perfect option for the greater Charlotte area! We stayed for our honey moon and absolutely loved it here. The rooms have plenty of space and are very clean.

All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Likewise, Jeff in in-room dining helped create a memorable first night with organizing champagne and chocolate covered strawberries!

We also tried the couples massage in the spa and the amenities, staff, and rooms were fantastic. The in hotel restaurant is also a must try, we chose to eat breakfast and prefer it over other options locally!

Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel

The Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel offers rooms with balconies, with guests specifically recommending those “facing the fountain” for the best views. While details about the balconies themselves are somewhat limited in reviews, the recommendation pattern suggests they’re a desirable feature at this property.

A major highlight is the “great rooftop bar,” which provides an alternative outdoor space even if you don’t book a balcony room. The hotel is described as “warm, welcoming, and unpretentiously stylish” with “vibrant color” and “impressive views of Uptown.”

For travelers seeking a stylish uptown hotel with balcony options and a popular rooftop space, the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel offers a solid choice, though be prepared for some potential service inconsistencies.

The staff was excellent, and the hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and in great condition. However, I would not recommend this property for families with young children or for anyone who values a dark, quiet sleeping environment.

We booked a room with a stadium view, which overlooks the neighboring baseball field. While the view itself was interesting, the stadium lights remained on throughout the night during each night of our stay. For families with toddlers, being able to create a dark room for naps and bedtime is extremely important, and these lights made that very difficult.

Unfortunately, the blackout curtains are not wide enough to fully cover the windows. Significant light enters through both the center gap and the sides of the curtains, allowing the stadium lights to flood the room all night long. As a result, bedtime and sleep quality were a challenge throughout our stay.

This issue may not affect rooms facing other directions, but if stadium-view rooms are going to be marketed as a premium feature, the light-blocking situation needs to be addressed.

I recently stayed at the Kimpton to celebrate my birthday. I was able to get a room upgrade as a Platinum Elite member. The staff was excellent and extremely welcoming when my family and I arrived. On arrival, we received great customer service from the valet staff and front desk. I enjoyed the complimentary waters provided by the front desk staff. Our room, while spacious, had some cosmetic spots in the carpet and there were several spots. I let the hotel staff know about this and they told me they couldn't improve this but they gave me 2,000 IHG points for the inconvenience. It's a great location and near many restaurants and shops. Just be mindful of the noise being in the uptown area and near the baseball stadium.

I want to send a special shoutout to Anthony and Trey from the valet staff. They were super helpful and engaging when waiting for our car in valet. They helped make our stay even better. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Absolutely loved our experience at the **Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel** in Charlotte! **Angeline’s** was a total standout — incredible Italian food, fresh flavors, and portions that hit just right. Every dish felt thoughtfully made and full of flavor.

And let’s talk about **breakfast**… WOW. Easily one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had. Delicious, fresh, and the perfect start to the day (worth waking up early for!).

The service throughout the hotel and restaurant was top-notch — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell the staff really cares about the guest experience.

I want to say how impressed we were with this hotel. We travel with our dog and a lot of pet friendly hotels aren't the best. This was not the case!
The hotel is very nice and very clean. From the start the valet staff were super friendly, and then the front desk staff were super welcoming as well. Overall one of the best experiences.
Across the street is a nice little park and the hotel itself is central to tons of restaurants, bars and the stadium is only a block away.

Great staff and terrific customer service. Room was clean and as-described, however the walls are very thin. Could hear the neighbors a little too well if you know what I mean.
The location is well within walking distance of great attractions, two stadiums, and lots of great restaurants. However the park and surrounding streets are a bit too full of scruffy and questionable characters and I wouldn't call it safe (especially after dark).
The valet is perfectly placed at the hotel entrance but pricey. I would still highly recommend valet if you're arriving or departing after dark.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to adults only and preferably to those comfortable with city traffic as well as those with some street smarts. Not a good place for the uninitiated or folks not familiar with night life in uptown.

Fantastic experience all around. I absolutely loved this hotel and would stay here again. We were greeted with so much enthusiasm and eagerness to accommodate us immediately on arrival by Jay! They had dental and shaving kits available at the lobby which was amazing that we didn’t have to wait for them to be delivered.

The room was SO spacious and clean, with plenty of minibar options at a reasonable price. The view from our room was beautiful as well. Room service was quick, and delicious. Such a great location as well. I’d highly recommend. Also LGBTQ friendly and welcoming.

We had an intimate bridal shower for my best friend in one of the 1 bedroom suites. Check-in was smooth. Once we got to the room we did have a few requests and the hotel staff went over and beyond what I could have imagined. Thank you Reece and Matthew! We were all impressed with the hotel, ending our night on the rooftop lounge. To make the night even sweeter for the bride-to-be, we gifted her the suite for the night! The next day she said she slept like a baby! Thanks Tryon Park for making the bridal shower an unforgettable experience!

Absolutely loved this facility, very clean, beautiful view, and nice perks. The entire staff is phenomenal and extremely friendly. But someone I want to highlight specifically is Jay at the front desk. His personality is very welcoming and charismatic. I would come back specifically for him, he is exceptional at his job and the perfect person to be front and center. Very helpful and accommodating 10/10.

The hotel was immaculate, the staff from the valets, the front desk, and cleaning crew were all professional and friendly. All of them were great with the dogs and quick with suggestions on where to eat. The location is fantastic. There is a park directly across the street to take your dogs and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely be looking to stay again when I am back in Charlotte.

Just checked into Kimpton Tryon Park and I had to write this review right away … I’m literally on the balcony soaking it all in!

I’m getting out of my Uber across the street from the hotel, and out of nowhere, Dre (one of the valet guys) runs across to help me with my bags. He didn’t even know I was a guest yet—he just saw someone with luggage and jumped into action. I told him I was heading to the hotel and when I looked at his shirt, I was like, “ I’m actually staying with you guys!” 🥹 He was so sweet!

Then he introduced me to Austin at the front desk and whew, talk about friendly, professional, and genuinely warm. I immediately felt welcome and cared for. Huge thank you, Austin, you made check-in feel like coming home seriously.

Now let’s talk about the elevators top-tier security. You can’t even go up without a room key, which I love, but I was moving a little slow figuring it out 😅 and Tanya stepped in to help me with such patience and grace. Thank you, Tanya!

This hotel is stunning and employees are attentive, and the level of customer service here? Next level. I truly feel like I’m being treated like royalty. If you’re coming to Charlotte, this is the place to stay. Kimpton Tryon Park, whoever did your hiring kudos. You hired with intention and it shows. ❤️

The hotel was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. However, the amenities were disappointing. The rooftop terrace doesn’t open until 4:30 p.m., and aside from that, there’s really nothing else: no pool, no rooftop access during the day, and only a small gym. For the price, it didn’t feel worth it.
This hotel upheld my standards and expectations for the Kimpton brand. We love and frequent Kimptons due to the exceptional service, luxury, and accommodation for my large breed dog. Front desk and valet team went above and beyond to ensure convenience and hospitality during my stay. Location is great for those traveling with a dog since there is a nice park directly across the street and close to many bars/restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean. Enjoyed my stay and will definitely return in the future.

Location is convenient though you should be warned you are directly in the middle of a major metropolitan city and there are sketchy individuals who frequent the area around the hotel (no fault of the hotel). We had no major incidents but there was a guy who stood outside the hotel on the corner yelling pretty much every time we walked outside. Staff was excellent. They always opened the door for us, answered any questions we had and were very polite. Parking under the hotel was super convenient (at $30 per night). The elevators are weird in the fact that you have to select your floor and scan your room key on a touch screen before getting on the elevator. I mean it works and I’m sure it’s good security but idk it just took some getting used to. Also there is no direct service via elevator to the basement garage or the rooftop bar meaning if you want to go to either of these you must take the elevator to the lobby then get off then select where you’re going then get back on the elevator. For instance to get to the basement where my car was I had to take the elevator from the floor my room was on to the lobby. Get off. Select basement. Then get back on the same elevator I was just on to get to the basement garage. Weird. Views were nice even though we didn’t get a park view. Not a bad experience for the money.

A brilliant stay and our first Kimpton hotel stay.

The hotel is brilliantly located in walking distance to most sights and things to do in Uptown including the stadium. Staff are very friendly, cleaning staff do a good and the rooms are very well equipped with comfortable beds and a very nice bathroom. We would happily return and recommend to anyone wishing to stay in Charlotte. We stayed on the 17th floor and had no noise issues whatsoever

Super Loud outside. Forget going to bed before 2am. Terrible! Bathroom soap had black mold. They gave us a lousy $50 in room credit. Worst hotel I have ever stayed. Don’t know how this is 4.5 star. If I was young and wanted party then I can understand. Everyone outside seems to blast music and drive by revving their motor cycles.
As wedding photographers, we’ve had the pleasure of capturing several couples getting ready at Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, and it’s always a fantastic experience! The rooms are spacious, modern, and beautifully designed, with large windows that provide stunning natural light—perfect for photography. The hotel’s chic and contemporary style creates a sophisticated backdrop for those special moments before the ceremony.

Beyond the aesthetics, its prime Uptown Charlotte location makes it a convenient and stylish choice for couples and their wedding parties. The staff is always professional and accommodating, ensuring a seamless experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious and photogenic setting in Charlotte!

Maaaan!! Come to Charlotte, NC. This hotel. The KIMPTON...she's freaking awesome. Check it out. The view all around is incredible, absolutely beautiful and astonishingly amazing. You will definitely have a GREAT! time at or around the hotel. Her surroundings have so much to offer. Arts, music, food, bars, and the most exciting thing she has are plenty of electronics to ride around on including tour bars, buses, parks, football/baseball stadiums and plenty of things to do around the kimpton. OH! She is beautiful. Hey! make sure you hit the whole area. A beautiful aray of different foods and bars. Enjoy! But let's not take advantage. Love Our QUEEN CITY with MotherF#$!*#! GRATITUDE!

We stay here whenever we travel to Charlotte. It’s just a fun place to stay. The rooms are always clean and the outside rooms have a great view. The staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant is always delicious. The roof top bar is definitely a cool spot in town. It is centrally located in downtown.

The hotel, restaurant and valet staff were very nice and professional. The room could've been better. It's aesthetically pleasing until you take a closer look and see the dust where the snacks are and other people's hair in the bathroom. Other than that, the location is great, and we had a great time!
Loved this stay. Wish we had more than one night here, room was very comfortable. Bed and sheets were great. They even brought up a dog bed for our pup!
Front desk was very personable, John Anthony was so sweet upon arrival. Loved having options of places to eat on premise and near by. The lobby serves coffee and croissants, which is such a great touch, if you want a fun latter or specialty coffee then hop Nextdoor to the water bean.
Typically I like to have a gym accessible for my stay. This one was great, with a small patio and outdoor overlook it made me feel like I was in a much larger space. Plenty of equipment in there to get a good pump and run in!
Would have over to visit the rooftop bar as well but time just didn’t permit

Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park

The Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park offers “King room with balcony” options that guests generally find “nice to have.” One particularly enthusiastic review highlighted the value proposition: “where else on major cities in NC are you finding rooms as nice as this with balconies for around 100 a night!?”

However, there’s an important caveat: “Some guests were disappointed to find that the rooms did not automatically come with a balcony, despite the advertisement.” This suggests you’ll need to specifically request a balcony room when booking to avoid disappointment.

I chose the hotel largely because it advertises an electric vehicle charger however the charger doesn't work. Otherwise the hotel was good especially for the price
Really disappointed by the hotel “gym” which is just five or six cardio machines, three of which do not work. No free weights. No additional equipment. Just towels and broken cardio equipment. The rooms are fine and clean, the hotel staff is very hospitable, but if you’re planning on getting a workout in, might as well find a local gym. A waste of pre-workout.

Inside is great! They hit you with a surprise parking surcharge and the bar/dinner closed at 9pm instead of the *in lobby listed* 10pm. Not the greatest view but what can you expect on this side of the city? 😂 Overall decent experience for a one night stay. Service was non existent from what I could see.
This hotel is old and played out! The restaurant is inconsistent, Managed terribly, sales team don't return calls and the front desk staff are untrained. Would not recommend. Take your business somewhere else.

Courtyard by Marriott Ballantyne

The Courtyard by Marriott Ballantyne offers rooms with balconies that receive generally positive reviews. Guests have shared enthusiastic comments like “Our Balcony View Was Beautiful” and “I love the room with the balcony.”

A particularly appealing aspect is the potential for lake views, with advice to “Request a Room with a Lake View” as some guests were “pleasantly surprised by the lake view from their balconies.” There’s also a recommendation to “Confirm Balcony View” during booking, suggesting some variability in the outlooks.

Some negative reviews mention “significant complaints regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the property” and concerns about “outdated amenities and bathroom facilities.” There were also some issues raised about “the comfort of the beds.”

Dining-wise, be aware that the “Bistro style restaurant” doesn’t offer a free continental breakfast, and “Dinner and alcohol are very pricey.” One review also noted the absence of a microwave in the room.

For travelers seeking a balcony room in the Ballantyne area, particularly with potential lake views, this property offers a solid option with generally positive reviews, though with some caveats regarding amenities and maintenance.

Solid location. Everyone was really friendly. When leaving the room in the morning, I asked for the room to be serviced, and it WAS just hours after asking, if not sooner! Just wish the sink and counter area were larger. No door (like other rooms) to the closet area. And there was a hole in the closet wall that was not fixed, just taped up. Some spots in the shower that could easily be cleaned.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Courtyard Marriott Ballantyne a few weeks ago, and I have to say—the experience was top tier from start to finish.

A special shoutout to Justice and Vania, who made both breakfast and the evening bar experience something to look forward to. Their professionalism, energy, and attention to detail truly elevated the atmosphere.

In the mornings, Mary was an absolute delight—warm, welcoming, and the perfect way to start the day with a simple Good Morning have a great day and at night, Eli and Justin brought great hospitality, excellent service, and explained the menu and everything.

It’s rare to come across a team that consistently delivers this level of quality and care. This wasn’t just a stay—it was an experience. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. I’ll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Courtyard Marriott at Ballantyne. We were in town for a family member’s funeral services. The front desk staff was wonderful and helpful. The rooms were clean and housekeeping staff were all friendly and hardworking. We would stay here again. The only complaint we had was the design of the showers. They seem to leak out onto the bathroom floor, no matter how you adjust the sliding doors. Other than that, no issues at all! Thank you!

Out of all the Marriott properties I’ve stayed at, this one easily lands in my top three! From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with warm smiles and friendly help. Everything is spotless, the property itself is absolutely beautiful, and the rooms… wow. Super spacious, incredibly comfy — exactly how a hotel should feel. I’d stay here again and again without a second thought.

Excellent hotel — everything is clean, beautiful, and well-maintained. The staff is polite, and the rooms are comfortable.
The only downside is that when we booked, we specifically chose a hotel with breakfast, and we were assured that it was included. However, in the morning it turned out that the “breakfast” was just coffee, a banana, and an orange. It would be nice if that were clearly mentioned in advance.

Other than that, everything was great — I definitely recommend this place!

Stayed here with my family for a work conference, we checked in on Monday evening. We stayed for 2 days unaware of the no pet policy, on day 3, the manager called our room while my husband was on conference calls, my spouse was over stimulated with the hotel manager calling and trying to work. The manager then came
knocking on the door infuriated with my spouse and the dog accusing us of going through the stairwell which I’m not sure why. I felt like we were being accused of criminal activity when we’re there on business. We were then asked to leave basically kicked out by the hotel manager due to our lil poodle. The manager made it clear there was no pets allowed and if we couldn’t keep our dog from barking we were going to have to leave. I totally
understood and explained to the manager there’s nothing I can do about the dog barking unfortunately, I apologized as I truly was not aware of the pet policy as the booking was made by corporate. My spouse and I had to leave as a result which meant we missed out on our job conferences that were scheduled for the week. We ended up having to drive 4hrs back home and missed out on work commitments. However, I would like to add the tub didn’t drain, there was mold in the ceiling of our closet and we noticed a roach crawling on the door upon arrival. The staff seemed a bit rude and so is the manager. Never will I stay here despite the misunderstanding of the no pet policy.

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne recently, and while the Bistro experience was great, the room situation wasn’t ideal. The Bistro food was very good, and the server was friendly and professional.

Unfortunately, my room had a few issues. The sink didn’t drain properly, and my keycard stopped working after I left to pick up my food. I went back and forth to the front desk several times to get new cards, but none of them worked. The concierge was polite and tried her best to help. She even came upstairs with me to try her master key, but that didn’t work either. She eventually called for housekeeping and left to get assistance. While I was waiting, I kept trying my card, and it finally opened on its own.

The pillows were also much too soft for my liking, and it would be nice if there were a choice of firmness.

Overall, the staff were kind, and the Bistro food was great, but the room and keycard problems made my stay more stressful and concerning than I expected.

Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel warrants one. From the moment I arrived, the service fell short of even basic expectations. Check-in was slow and disorganized, with the front desk staff seeming uninterested and unprepared. There was no welcome or helpful information offered—just a room key handed over with minimal communication.

Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. Once in the room, I noticed something crawling near the baseboards and, upon closer inspection, discovered carpet beetle larvae. This is not only unsettling but a serious hygiene concern. I immediately contacted the front desk, and while they acknowledged the issue, there was no offer to change rooms or even a sincere apology. Just a vague promise to “have someone look at it.”

The room itself felt dated and not especially clean, which only added to the discomfort. After a long day of travel, this is the last thing anyone wants to deal with.

There are plenty of hotels in this area, and I strongly advise others to consider alternatives. Between the lackluster service and the pest issue, this hotel did not meet even the most basic standards for comfort or cleanliness. I will not be returning.

We had a really good experience staying at this hotel. You can tell it was very well maintained and the room was very clean.
The best part was definitely the service - from start to finish, everyone we interacted with was so kind and so helpful.
Tyler at the bistro counter was very accommodating, even though we arrived right when they were closing up.
The ladies at the service desk Friday and Saturday (unfortunately I did not get their names) were extremely helpful to us since my mom had a request for something.
The wonderful service we received would definitely bring us back to stay here again.

Got here after 10PM, was concerned about the review regarding the truck break-in, but we left our luggage on a canvas bag on top of our vehicle all night (parked in a side lot) and no issues at all. Security head was at the front desk when we were checking in, asked him about it and he said it should be fine as there are not really any issues around that area.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Courtyard, and I can confidently say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. From the moment I arrived, the staff Tyler and Keysha made me feel welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail.

The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the entire property. I love the view I had as I worked from my room.

One of the highlights was the hotel’s pool and restaurant. My kids enjoyed being able to swim during the winter. Zaine did his thing at the bar and the food was great.

The location was perfect describe if it's near attractions, restaurants, or in a convenient area. It made exploring the city effortless and enjoyable.

Overall, my stay exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality service, and a memorable experience. I can’t wait to return!

Front desk staff is pleasant and professional, however staffing their bistro and coffee area seems to be a challenge. Me and several coworkers have stayed here over the last six weeks and the bistro is typically closed for dinner service. The wait times in the morning for coffee are excessively long - you’re better off finding elsewhere after check out. The rooms are clean and recently renovated, but not sound proof at all. I was woken up during my last stay from gas station noise and this time by my neighbor at 1am.

This is a great upper-3-star lower-4-star hotel. I was here for a week, splitting my time between business and volunteer work.

The room was spacious, immaculate, and a great value. The staff went the extra mile in every way. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and even arranged to collect my (self-serve) laundry the day I left for work and forgot it in the dryer. Housekeeping was excellent and kept me topped up with everything I needed.

The gym is small, but very clean with good equipment and I never had to wait to use one of the 2 treadmills. There is a pool, but I did not use it -- it's too small to do laps, and there is a window from the lobby looking over it.

The restaurant (Bistro - order at the counter to dine in or takeaway) truly exceeded expectations. I ate most of my breakfasts there, and several dinners. The food was good (surprisingly good french fries!). Everyone at the restaurant did a great job, juggling taking orders and cooking, but there were 2 stand-outs: a young blonde woman (did not get her name) went out of her way to be helpful and make sure I had what I needed. Also Mary, who after my breakfast order the first day, remembered every morning what I liked and had it ready to go.

The location cannot be beat. There are several shopping centers and restaurants a short walk or drive from here. I could walk to my office. It's also not far from the airport.

I slept pretty well here, but very light sleepers will want ear plugs. I had one neighbor who was a bit noisy. There is a door to the stairs that has shrieking hinges (I probably should have reported that to maintenance). It was the only issue I encountered here, and in comparison to most hotels of this type, it was pretty quiet.

All in all, a really solid hotel and I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in town.
Which Charlotte hotel offers the best balcony views?

Based on guest reviews, The Ivey’s Hotel and The Ballantyne receive the most consistent praise for their balconies with fountain views. For urban views, AC by Marriott Charlotte’s balconies facing the Spectrum Center are highly recommended. If you prefer natural scenery, Courtyard by Marriott Ballantyne offers rooms with lake views from their balconies.

Yes, rooms with balconies generally command a premium price at most Charlotte hotels. The price difference varies by property, with luxury options like The Ivey’s Hotel and The Ballantyne incorporating balconies into their higher-tier room categories. Sonesta Charlotte Executive Park offers the most budget-friendly balcony options, with guests noting the good value for a room with outdoor space.

The Ivey’s Hotel stands out for romantic stays, offering luxurious Balcony Suites with king beds, turndown service, and premium Frette linens.
