Miami Beach’s biggest draw is the view, so a hotel room with balcony access is the difference between glancing at the ocean and actually living with it for the length of your stay. Watching the sunrise over the Atlantic with coffee in hand, or catching the golden light over the Art Deco skyline at sunset, is a big part of what makes a Miami Beach trip feel like Miami Beach. Not every hotel makes this easy: many of South Beach’s historic buildings were designed before deep, furnished balconies were standard, so the neighborhood and room type you choose matter as much as the hotel’s star rating.
This guide breaks down the Miami Beach hotels most reliably offering true private balconies, organized by neighborhood, along with the practical difference between a shallow “Juliet” balcony and a full walk-out one. If you’re planning a wider Florida coastal trip, our guide to Fort Lauderdale hotels with balcony covers a quieter stretch of coast just up the road, and our guide to Key West hotels with balcony is worth a look if you’re continuing further south along the Overseas Highway.

Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club

- Surfside, Miami Beach
- Private, full ocean-view glass balcony
- 2–4 Guests
- 1315$ Luxury
The Four Seasons at The Surf Club sits on a quieter stretch of Surfside, just north of the South Beach crowds, and every room is built to face the Atlantic directly. Rooms use glass-paneled balconies rather than solid railings, so the ocean view stays unobstructed from the moment you open the sliding door. The Premier Ocean View category delivers the widest, most direct sightline, while the resort’s historic 1930s Surf Club building adds a more residential feel than the high-energy hotels further south on Ocean Drive.

From the moment you arrive, you feel a rare level of calm, privacy, and understated elegance that is hard to find anywhere else in South Florida. The architecture preserves Miami’s historic charm while delivering modern five-star sophistication. Every detail — from the oceanfront setting to the personalized service — feels intentional and refined.
The staff operates with true discretion and professionalism, making it ideal for executives, international travelers, and guests who value privacy and seamless service. The atmosphere is serene, exclusive, and effortlessly luxurious.
For anyone visiting Miami and seeking a world-class luxury hotel experience near Bal Harbour and Surfside Beach, this property sets the standard.
A true icon of Miami hospitality.

W Miami Beach

- South Beach, Miami Beach
- Private, ocean-view balcony in every room
- 2 Guests
- $699
W Miami Beach is one of the few South Beach properties where a private balcony is standard in every room rather than reserved for top-tier suites. Its modern high-rise design means balconies are full-depth and walk-out, rather than the shallow “Juliet” style common in the neighborhood’s historic Art Deco hotels. Expect a lively pool-and-nightlife scene at street level, with the balcony itself offering a step back from the noise several floors up.

Booked an apartment through booking.com advertised as at the W. This turned out not to be linked at all. We were told we had access to the gym and pool areas. Neither was set up on the system correctly so even though we were supposed to have access we couldn’t use and no member of staff at the W could seem to help add our names onto the system.
Furthermore construction is ongoing at the hotel meaning the pool is closed all weekdays, not communicated when booking, and construction starts early morning preventing a decent nights sleep on your holiday.
Completely fraudulent advertisement and service which I will be looking to take further with the relevant regulatory bodies

I usually don't spend much time writing any reviews. But this experience was so incredibly bad that I felt compelled to do so.
I booked two nights at the W hotel Miami (Bickell) trusting the brand name being as good as it is would do me no harm. Boy was I wrong. If this is a 5 star hotel, then it's a 5 star dump.
You'll note, my review mirrors many others posted on this property in the past 6 months.
Let's start with the good since it'll be brief. Anthony at the front desk was astounding. He definitely understands customer service. Unfortunately, things ended there. One other bright note was Nick, the new manager of just two weeks who clearly had no control over his property. So not his fault per se.
No room service offered after 4pm daily and then only limited on weekends. Even 3 star hotels offer room service when restaurant is open!!
Left a voicemail message with room service TWICE. No call back after 30 mins so we contacted front desk who offered a lame excuse that they were busy. BUSY?? Room service too busy to return a call for an order???
Paint on bathroom floor tiles. Broken sink drain - so we pulled it out to enable use of that sink. No water- as in zero water pressure (it dribbled out) in the other sink. Filthy carpet. Wallpaper peeling at seams.
We requested maid service by phone - and also used the door hanger. Yet maid service NEVER showed up.
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP.

My stay at this hotel was deeply disappointing and far from what one would expect from a five-star property. Based on both the condition of the room and the quality of service, the experience felt misleading and did not align with the hotel’s branding or pricing.
As shown clearly in the photos, the room was noticeably dirty and poorly maintained. Surfaces, lampshades, and fixtures showed visible stains and wear, giving the impression of long-term neglect rather than normal use. The overall interior design feels extremely outdated, with decor resembling an old Chinese-style aesthetic from decades ago, paired with old-fashioned lamps—some of which did not function properly and were never replaced.
Window is not sound proof! Very noisy
The heavy use of mirrors around the room created an unsettling, dated atmosphere, more reminiscent of the 1960s than a modern luxury hotel. The flooring is cold tile throughout; when the air conditioning is left on, it becomes extremely uncomfortable to walk on barefoot—hardly suitable for a premium hotel experience.
Functionality was another major issue:
• Key cards frequently failed, requiring repeated trips to the front desk to reset access.
• The bathroom flush often did not work properly.
• Most concerning, the safety deposit box was completely non-functional. This issue was reported on the first day of a seven-night stay. A security staff member came on the second day but was unable to fix it and promised to return. No one ever did. By the time of checkout, the issue remained unresolved, with no follow-up or accountability whatsoever.
Housekeeping service was inconsistent at best. Cleaning staff appeared understaffed and did not come daily unless specifically requested through the front desk—something that should never be required at a hotel claiming five-star service.
Noise was another constant disturbance. Doors slam loudly throughout the day and night, as there is no soft-close system, making it difficult to rest.
Service quality across departments was poor. Requests were often delayed, ignored, or never completed. The staff overall lacked professionalism and urgency.
The lobby area is extremely small, with no welcoming atmosphere. There is no properly functioning café or coffee shop—despite being advertised, it was never open during my entire seven-day stay.
For a hotel charging over $500 per night, this level of quality is simply unacceptable. At best, this property might be worth $140 per night, which would better reflect its condition and service level.
I strongly recommend choosing another hotel. This stay was a complete waste of money, and I will never return.
1 Hotel Miami Beach

- South Beach, Miami Beach
- Private balcony in Ocean View and Oceanfront suites
- 2–4 Guests
- $861
1 Hotel Miami Beach built its reputation on an eco-conscious, plant-filled design, and the balcony experience follows the same theme, with reclaimed-wood furniture and greenery framing the ocean view. Not every room type includes a balcony here — it’s tied specifically to the Ocean View and Oceanfront suite categories, so it’s worth confirming the exact room name at booking rather than assuming a “beachfront” listing includes outdoor space.

A very special thank you to Blanca and her entire team. They went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Every interaction was met with kindness, professionalism, patience, and a sincere desire to help. No matter what we needed, they were always accommodating, understanding, and incredibly respectful. Their level of hospitality is something you don’t come across often, and it made all the difference.
It’s easy to find a beautiful hotel, but it’s rare to find one where every person makes you feel like family. The warmth and dedication of the staff turned an already gorgeous property into one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
If I could give more than five stars, I would happily give ten. Thank you, Blanca, and thank you to every member of the team for making our stay so memorable. We are truly grateful and can’t wait to return!

I am completely speechless after my stay at 1 Hotel South Beach. Everything about this property was absolutely exceptional from start to finish.
The service here is truly unique and setting a new standard for hospitality—every single staff member was exemplary, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.
The breakfast was incredible, offering amazing quality and variety. Both the pool areas and the beach setup were flawless, pristine, and beautifully maintained.
It is easily one of the best hotels I have ever visited in the world. Every single detail was immaculate. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I will definitely be returning!

Night one: we went to the rooftop at Watr, ordered dessert, and right as it was about to come out… a massive thunderstorm hit and we all got absolutely soaked. The staff kindly brought towels, which we appreciated, but I was slightly questioning the “sit guests outside during a thunderstorm” strategy lol.
Night two: after the rooftop experience, we decided to play it safe and stay in the room for dessert instead. The cake arrived, the server said she’d be right back with the candle/light… and then 30 minutes passed with nothing. I finally called downstairs and found out candles are apparently not allowed in the rooms 😂 Honestly, I’m kind of glad I didn’t invest in buying a condo there if a birthday candle is too dangerous for the building.
The funniest/saddest part was that after all the waiting, someone actually came back and took the dessert away from my very confused 3-year-old daughter 😭😂
The manager later messaged apologizing and invited us to breakfast at Aviv so they could “make it right” with the birthday dessert there. We went… and once again, no dessert appeared. The follow-up message finally came after we had already checked out.
At that point, dealing with 3 meltdowns from my disappointed toddler over the missing birthday candle situation was honestly tough 😭😂
That said, she loved the pool, which definitely saved the trip. The hotel itself is beautiful, but check-in and luggage service were also slow due to holiday weekend.

I booked through Amex, so I came in with some perks including complimentary breakfast, a $100 resort credit, and 4pm late checkout, but honestly the hotel delivered way beyond that. I ordered a Wagyu cheeseburger at 4am which was phenomenal.
The next morning I headed straight to the rooftop pool and WATR, Between the rooftop, the beach, the food, and the bar, everything was fantastic. I also found out there aren’t just two pools. There are four.
The staff across the board, Matt and Tanner at the front desk, the restaurant team, pool staff, everyone, were all 10/10. The lobby has this modern, sleek feel with a scent that incredible. The chicken sausage at breakfast was one of the best things I ate all trip (from the hotel)
I went into the weekend with high expectations and everything was exceeded. Highly recommend, and I’ll absolutely be back.
Andaz Miami Beach Resort & Spa

- Mid-Beach, Miami Beach
- Private balcony in select ocean-view rooms
- 2 Guests
- $429
Andaz Miami Beach sits in the quieter Mid-Beach corridor, a few minutes north of the South Beach strip, giving it a more residential, design-forward feel. Balconies are available on select ocean-facing rooms rather than the full inventory, and the hotel’s boutique scale means those balcony rooms tend to book out earlier for weekend stays.

Oh if I do have a complaint- it’s the breakfast menu unfortunately is underwhelming*

While the hotel has beautiful design and aesthetics, the overall experience does not feel five-star at all. The rooms are extremely noisy, the service is very slow, and even simple requests to the front desk can take up to an hour. As an interior designer, I can appreciate the visual design of the hotel and rooms, but they are not planned in a very ergonomic or comfortable way.
One of the things I value most about luxury hotels is the sense of peace and quiet they provide. At truly exceptional five-star properties, there is an atmosphere of calm and comfort that allows guests to fully relax. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The room was very noisy, there were constant sounds coming from the hallway and surrounding areas, the refrigerator was making noticeable noise, and the air conditioning unit was unusually loud. It was difficult to enjoy the level of comfort and tranquility that I expect from a hotel in this category.
We paid a lot of money expecting a luxury experience, but sadly it did not meet those expectations. Compared to the Andaz Maui, this property feels significantly lower in quality and service. Because of this experience, I honestly would not feel comfortable recommending this hotel to others.

A special thank you to Sofia, who went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. She was incredibly generous, kind, and attentive. Sofia personally walked us to our room, made sure we were comfortable, and checked that everything was perfect. Her hospitality truly stood out and made us feel valued as guests.
The hotel itself is beautiful, the service is outstanding, and the level of care shown by the staff is something you don’t find everywhere. We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend the Andaz Miami Beach to anyone looking for a first-class experience.

A few things to note. First, the adult pool rules were not enforced. Each day, there were children in the adult pool with no parents nearby, despite clear signage and a separate family pool only steps away. Second, poolside service was inconsistent. I spent about four hours at the pool without once being asked if I wanted another beverage, even though several staff members were stationed nearby. I experienced something similar at the lobby bar, where service felt inattentive despite it being nearly empty. Lastly, some pricing felt unusually high — specifically the morning coffee. A standard drip coffee was $9 and an iced latte with regular milk was $13, which stood out since the cocktails and food otherwise felt reasonably priced for Miami Beach.
Overall, would I stay here again, yes.
Grand Beach Hotel

- Mid-Beach, Miami Beach
- Private balcony in Ocean View suites (partial view)
- Up to 4 Guests
- $543
Grand Beach Hotel leans into a suite-style layout, so families or longer stays get more room to spread out than a standard hotel room. Its Ocean View suites include a private balcony with a partial view of the Atlantic, and the price point is noticeably lower than the luxury properties nearby, making it a practical option if a balcony matters more to you than a fully unobstructed sightline.

However, it has been two weeks, and hotel.com has not refunded me—in fact, they stated that the hotel denied the claim. As a result, I paid twice for one night's stay, which is definitely fraud.
The suite had two AC units, and half of them did not work. In Miami, not having air conditioning is terrible. When I notified the front desk, they compensated us with the resort fee. Despite this, the overall service was terrible.
I plan to pursue fraud charges against the hotel for withholding money they promised to refund me.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The robes I was looking forward to using also had stains on them, which was disappointing considering how expensive this hotel is.
The worst part was checkout day. Checkout was scheduled for 11 AM, and we were granted an extra hour until 12 PM. Despite that, housekeeping rudely knocked on our door repeatedly at 8 AM, 9 AM, and 10 AM, yelling “Housekeeping!” Every time we responded “No,” they yelled back that it was checkout time. It felt extremely disrespectful and rushed.
For the amount of money this hotel charges, the treatment we received was unacceptable. I could have easily spent my money elsewhere. Unfortunately, my next staycation definitely will not be at the Grand Beach Hotel — I’d rather stay at the Fontainebleau instead.

The room was clean with partial views of both the bay and ocean and we were welcomed with bottle of wine. 🥰 great pool area with beach access.
Now, to conclude, We arrived around 3:30 AM after a long drive and were informed by the front desk that we could either pay for self-parking or valet parking. Since we were exhausted, we spoke directly with the valet clerk, who offered us what we believed was a reasonable VIP valet rate, which we paid upfront.
However, upon checkout, we were told we were also responsible for additional daily parking charges on top of the valet fee we had already paid. When I calmly explained the situation to the front desk, my concerns were dismissed, and I was repeatedly told that I still had to pay the extra charges.
I requested to speak with a General Manager, but instead of attempting to understand or resolve the issue, the response remained the same: pay the balance. At that point, after what was supposed to be a special anniversary getaway, I simply wanted to settle the matter and begin the long drive home.
The issue ultimately wasn’t about the money — it was about the complete lack of accountability, empathy, and customer service. Mistakes and miscommunication can happen, but the unwillingness to even acknowledge the situation or offer any type of resolution turned an otherwise enjoyable trip into a frustrating experience.

We arrived about 1am, the front desk staff was pleasant. Within 5 minutes of entering the hotel, we were in our room. A bottle of wine and two glasses awaited us, a lovely surprise. We found the wet bar to be well stocked, the rooms incredibly spacious, and the view spectacular. I immediately checked the showers, worried after reading some of the other reviews. Both showers were spotless. We called the front desk to ask for another blanket, it was at our door within minutes.
Other positives are that the beaches to the left and right were totally vacant during our entire stay. We always found a beach or pool chair. There were plenty of umbrellas by the pool; so easy to stay out of the sun. They have robes and slippers in the room for you. The hotel gym was pretty nice; squat rack, smith machine, kettlebells, dumbbells, various cardio and strength training machines. There’s a path along the beach at the back of the hotel that’s really nice if jogging or walking is your thing.
There were only a couple small cons. The food and drinks are expensive. Think we paid $20 per cocktail, $100 on breakfast. There’s no where else around to get food. We doordashed, most of our meals. There is a restaurant on site, but the menu is limited. There is the free trolly, about 10 minutes on the trolly and we had access to restaurants and shops.
That wouldn’t dissuade us from coming again. My wife and I left our 4 night stay feeling rejuvenated.
Eden Roc Miami Beach

- Mid-Beach, Miami Beach
- Private balcony in select rooms
- 2 Guests
- $374
Eden Roc is one of Miami Beach’s classic MiMo-era (Miami Modern) resorts, built in the 1950s alongside its sister property next door. Balcony availability depends on room category and building wing, so it’s worth checking the specific room description carefully. This is a good option for travelers who want the scale of a large historic resort without paying South Beach’s boutique-hotel premium.

Carolina welcomed us at the spa and made sure everything was perfect. We lounged at the Nobu Adult Pool before our treatment and then went to Ocean Social for lunch. The restaurant is so pretty, it doesn't feel like you are in Miami. The ocean view is mesmerizing and the food and drinks were delicious! We had fresh ceviche, calamari, pizza, and more. It was so good.
The spa itself was surprisingly spacious. The relaxation room is so nice, and I really enjoyed the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna.
The best part was the 80-minute massage with exfoliation, hot stones, scented oils, etc. it was the BEST massage experience I have had. I have been to the Fontainebleau, Ritz-Carlton, Turnberry, etc., and this was my favorite. Ines was my masseuse and she is AMAZING! She applied the right pressure and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.
This is a must go-to spa for locals and tourists! Thank you so much!

The negatives were definitely the service people. Anytime we asked for anything it was like we were inconveniencing the staff. We got to the hotel and our room wasnt ready and when we asked what to do with our bads the service lady shrugged. After being there a week we tried to go on the beach and they gave us such a hard time trying to get chairs and umbrella. Overall if I ever were to go back i wouldn't stay here.

The pool areas were fantastic, and I especially appreciated that the pools were warm and comfortable throughout the day. There are also several great dining options on-site, making it easy to enjoy quality food without leaving the property.
I stayed in a king room with a balcony, and it exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious, well-designed, and very comfortable. One of my favorite features was the large bathroom. The shower was incredibly spacious, and I loved that the shower and soaking tub were located in the same area, creating a relaxing spa-like atmosphere.
A unique touch that really stood out was the small window connecting the bathroom and bedroom. You can open or close it as you like, allowing you to see into the room, watch TV while relaxing in the tub, or simply stay connected with your significant other. It's a thoughtful design feature that added a fun and memorable element to the stay.
The only downside is that many of the hotel's services and dining options automatically include a 20% gratuity. While the service was good, those charges can add up quickly and make an already expensive stay significantly more costly than expected. It's something guests should keep in mind when budgeting for their trip.
Overall, Eden Roc offers beautiful accommodations, great food, warm pools, and a relaxing atmosphere. Despite the added costs, I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a classic Miami Beach resort experience.

Best Neighborhoods for a Balcony Stay in Miami Beach
| Neighborhood | Vibe | Balcony Highlight |
|---|---|---|
| South Beach (Ocean Drive & Collins Ave) | Art Deco nightlife strip, walkable to restaurants and clubs | Historic buildings often use shallow Juliet balconies; full walk-out balconies are concentrated in newer high-rises like W Miami Beach |
| Mid-Beach (Collins Ave, 40s–60s streets) | Quieter, more residential, boutique and classic resort hotels | More consistent private balconies at Andaz, Eden Roc, and Grand Beach Hotel |
| Surfside & Bal Harbour | Upscale, low-key, close to the Bal Harbour Shops | Some of the widest unobstructed oceanfront balconies, led by the Four Seasons at The Surf Club |
Tips for Booking a Balcony Room in Miami Beach
Not every Miami Beach hotel room comes with a balcony, and the exact phrasing in a listing matters. Many of the neighborhood’s historic Art Deco buildings on Ocean Drive were designed with shallow “Juliet balconies” — a railing behind French doors you can stand at but not sit on — rather than a full walk-out balcony you can furnish with a chair. If a true outdoor balcony matters to you, look for room categories labeled “Ocean View” or “Oceanfront” specifically, and check the room’s individual photos rather than the hotel’s hero image.
Modern high-rises in Mid-Beach and Surfside more reliably include full-depth balconies across most or all of their rooms, since they were built after zoning changes allowed deeper cantilevered floor plans. Booking during Miami’s dry season (November through April) also gives you the best chance of actually using the balcony; hurricane season (June through November) brings a higher chance of rain and humidity that keeps guests indoors regardless of room category.

As a general pattern across major booking platforms, oceanfront balcony rooms in Miami Beach are consistently among the first room categories to sell out for winter and spring travel, so booking several weeks ahead is worth it if a balcony is a must-have for your trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do all Miami Beach hotels have balconies?
No. Balcony availability varies by building age and room category. Many historic Art Deco hotels on Ocean Drive only offer shallow Juliet balconies in select rooms, while modern high-rises in Mid-Beach, Surfside, and Bal Harbour more commonly include full walk-out balconies across most of their inventory. Always check the specific room type, not just the hotel listing.
What is the difference between a Juliet balcony and a full walk-out balcony?
A Juliet balcony is a railing set behind a door or window that you can open and stand at, but there is no floor space to step out onto. A full walk-out balcony has enough depth to hold furniture, like a chair or small table, and lets you physically step outside. Miami Beach’s historic buildings lean toward Juliet balconies, while newer construction typically offers full walk-out space.
Which Miami Beach neighborhood has the best balcony views?
Surfside and Bal Harbour, home to the Four Seasons at The Surf Club, tend to offer the widest and most unobstructed oceanfront balcony views, since the area is less densely built than South Beach. South Beach balconies often look over Ocean Drive’s Art Deco skyline and the Atlantic beyond it, while Mid-Beach balconies split the difference with a quieter, more residential outlook.
Is it worth paying extra for an oceanfront balcony room?
If you plan to spend meaningful time in the room — working remotely, traveling with young kids who nap, or simply enjoying sunrise coffee over the Atlantic — the upgrade is generally worth it. If you expect to spend most of your trip out at the beach, restaurants, or nightlife, a standard room with beach access nearby can save a significant amount without losing much of the experience.
Pricing and How to Book
Balcony rooms in Miami Beach typically carry a premium over standard rooms, and that premium scales with both the room’s ocean exposure and the hotel’s overall price tier, from Grand Beach Hotel’s mid-range suites up to Four Seasons and W Miami Beach’s luxury oceanfront categories. Rates swing seasonally: December through April (Miami’s dry season and peak snowbird months) brings the highest prices and the earliest sell-outs for balcony rooms specifically, while late summer and early fall offer the best value if you don’t mind a higher chance of afternoon showers.
